Like the top 5, though I'm not a gigantic fan of that Metric song. The second single ("Speed the Collapse") is definitely better.
Actually, I have a particular interest in the next steps made by "Eyes Wide Open" and Foster...and hopefully, a Gaslight Anthem debut next month.

Alternative
It's that time for core artists to make their mark on the Alternative chart. After a fantastic North American debut sales week for 'Synthetica', a shoe-in for a spot in the top 5 on my year-end albums list, Metric spend a second month at #1 with "Youth Without Youth". The track has logged a record breaking 8 weeks at #1 on Canadian Alternative radio, and is quietly creeping towards the top 10 on U.S. alternative as well. Just picked up tickets to their gig in November, so its only onwards and upwards from here for Metric. Up next is Silversun Pickups who have made a sturdy rise to a new peak at #2 - could they be #1 next month? Not if the Lumineers have anything to do with it - who may just snag song of the summer honors away from Walk The Moon, who also remain a top 5 presence along with Alabama Shakes this month.
But the big story? MUSE! They're back. And the olympic sized anthem is nothing short of spectacular. Queen comparisons aside, this song is larger than life, and a great buzz track to build anticipation for the new album. Speaking of anticipation - new Killers on July 11th? Holy **** balls. Perhaps a #1 debut next month? Who knows. I'm hoping it's just as good as WYWY or STM. For those who don't know, maybe a little perspective for you, The Killers have scored 8 #1's in the past, and a handful of extras in the top 5.
1. Metric - Youth Without Youth (1)
2. Silversun Pickups - Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings) (3)
3. The Lumineers - Ho Hey (-)
4. Walk The Moon - Anna Sun (2)
5. Alabama Shakes - Hold On (4)
6. Muse - Survival (-)
7. City & Color - The Grand Optimist (7)
8. Electric Guest - This Head I Hold (-)
9. Phillip Phillips - Home (11)
10. Foster The People - Houdini (17)
11. Florence + The Machine vs. Calvin Harris - Spectrum (-)
12. Billy Talent - Viking Death March (20)
13. Awolnation - Kill Your Heroes (-)
14. Gotye - Eyes Wide Open (9)
15. Passion Pit - Take A Walk (-)
16. Serj Tankian - Figure It Out (19)
17. Fun - Some Nights (-)
18. Alex Clare - Too Close (15)
19. Emelie Sande - Next To Me (16)
20. The Gaslight Anthem - 45 (-)
CHR
Things are not nearly as exciting on the CHR chart, as Usher secures a second month at #1 following a lacklustre start for his album, 'Looking 4 Myself', which is actually pretty good. Weak competition allows DJ Khaled to vacuum his way up to #2, the follow up to his #1 hit "I'm On One". Canadian glory just in time for Canada Day Long Weekend as those blasphemous kids with their catchy hits, Biebs and Jepsen, score new top 5 peaks. Rihanna shows who's boss with some serious top 5 longevity, although another #1 is starting to look doubtful. Went to the Drake show earlier this month, which speaks to the big debut for "No Lie". Also, the new Maroon 5 album I just finished listening too, and was pretty impressed. Hence the nice movement for "Payphone" and sure to be top 10 "One More Night". Scoring a second top 10 off 'Born and Raised' (another shoe-in for end of the year album glory) is John Mayer, who released "Queen of California" to Triple A, a perfect example of how great the album is. Also - how great was it to see Alicia Keys dropping some new music. Always love her stuff. Nice track in "New Day".
1. Usher - Scream (1)
2. DJ Khaled f. Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross - Take It To The Head (5)
3. Rihanna - Where Have You Been (3)
4. Justin Bieber - Boyfriend (10)
5. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe (9)
6. 2 Chainz f. Drake - No Lie (-)
7. Wiz Khalifa - Work Hard, Play Hard (-)
8. Drake f. The Weeknd - Crew Love (2)
9. Maroon 5 f. Wiz Khalifa - Payphone (12)
10. John Mayer - Queen Of California (-)
11. Rita Ora - How We Do (Party) (16)
12. Chris Brown - Don't Wake Me Up (14)
13. David Guetta f. Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne - I Can Only Imagine (-)
14. Maroon 5 - One More Night (-)
15. Usher - Climax (4)
16. Lana Del Ray - National Anthem (-)
17. Kelly Clarkson - Dark Side (13)
18. Drake f. Lil' Wayne - HYFR (15)
19. Alicia Keys - New Day (-)
20. Pitbull f. Shakira - Get It Started (-)

Fully came around to YWY, though I still contend that it's not among the best songs on Synthetica, and it's nice to see that Billy Talent jump, but that's neither here nor there. The big story, obviously, is the Muse debut. To say that "Survival" is my favorite song of the year now (or at least in a dogfight with the other two top dogs, "Midnight City" and "Heartbeat") would be a pretty big understatement.

On the better side of the chart aka. The Alt. chart.
Metric is sharing its wonderful music to everyone to enjoy. Glad you enjoy them and have fun seeing them in Nov.
I have no fear that SP will be #1 next month. No threats from The Lumineers scares no one.
Electric Guest , Awolnation, Passion Pit , Fun, & The Gaslight Anthem make their marks
Muse rules the world and wants to rock you out. Oh Oh Oh.
Great job.
In the no talent side , Usher can more time screaming his lungs out until it gives out.
Kills these Canadians drones.
Is Chris or Drake going to Man up to Rihanna or she will just laugh at them on your way to the top cause she’s the MF woman of the year.
Kids these days.
Wiz is going something hard,.
John Mayer & NEW Alicia.
See you in another month.

Alternative
Due to the sheer awesomeness of the Alternative and Modern Rock formats these past few months, I've had to expand the Alternative chart to a top 30 in order to accommodate, as no song here is unworthy of a chart position this month.
In short; The Killers have landed with yet another #1 debut - their 9th overall #1 in the history of the chart with the lead single off the forthcoming "Battle Born". While the track is no 'Somebody Told Me', 'Brightside', 'When You Were Young', or even 'Read My Mind' - it does sound a heck of a lot like the Flowers solo material which I was a big fan of. Ultimately, the song is a grower not a shower, and over the past few weeks, it's grown into a solid track that should start off their live show in raucous fashion.
As we eagerly await for new Phoenix, we have the next best thing - the Royal Concept, who actually sound EXACTLY like Phoenix. I'm only allowing it because the song is so god damn catchy, and hence, it's #3 debut.
It's all about debuts this week! Green Day and No Doubt are back with fairly pop-rock affairs in their lead singles, both of which have grown on me tremendously in the past week or so. And what do you say? How about that Of Monsters & Men re-entry? After debuting back in February, and spending months in the top 5, it's recent surge to #1 on the Alternative chart has sparked some re-interest for me and I'm totally loving their album - so here it is. "Little Talks" will make a big push on the year-end chart.
Eagerly awaiting the new tracks from Muse, and Mumford & Sons.
1. The Killers - Runaways (-)
2. Metric - Youth Without Youth (1)
3. Royal Concept - Gimme Twice (-)
4. Of Monsters & Men - Little Talks (RE)
5. The Lumineers - Ho Hey (3)
6. Walk The Moon - Anna Sun (4)
7. No Doubt - Settle Down (-)
8. Foster The People - Houdini (10)
9. Green Day - Oh Love (-)
10. Muse - Survival (6)
11. Passion Pit - Take A Walk (15)
12. Alabama Shakes - Hold On (5)

CHR
After a weak past few months on the chart, some potential has begun to surface on this chart. Scoring their first #1 since 'Makes Me Wonder' and their second overall is Maroon 5 with the uber-catchy 'One More Night'. Hot on their heels is Ms. Rihanna, whose durable hit 'Where Have You Been' has yet to hit #1 but has been top 5 nearly it's whole run. Mega-debut for Calvin Harris, scoring his third top 5 hit this year. Going to see him at the end of September, so expect a big push for this track and his album. Heard the new Nicki Minaj finally, and damn, it's a club banger. Goes a bit harder than 'Starships' for sure. And all that Frank Ocean hype? Not sure if he's much of a singles artist, but his album as a whole, is solid, and will have a good showing on my year-end.
1. Maroon 5 - One More Night (14)
2. Rihanna - Where Have You Been (3)
3. Calvin Harris f. Example - We'll Be Coming Back (-)
4. Ne Yo - Let Me Love You (-)
5. Pitbull f. Shakira - Get It Started (20)
6. Alicia Keys - New Day (19)
7. 2 Chainz f. Drake - No Lie (6)
8. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe (5)
9. David Guetta f. Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne - I Can Only Imagine (13)
10. Usher - Scream (1)
11. DJ Khaled f. Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne, Nicki Minaj - Take It To The Head (2)
12. Chris Brown - Don't Wake Me Up (12)
13. Lana Del Ray - National Anthem (16)
14. Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm (-)
15. Justin Bieber f. Big Sean - As Long As You Love Me (-)
16. Frank Ocean - Thinkin Bout You (-)

Alt.:
I agree with about the new The Killers track.
Gimme Twice is a amazing song
Little Talks is unstoppable.
45 taking the high road.
Trojans , Queen Of California ,Little Black Submarines ,Lost In The Echo ,Midnight City ,What Makes A Good Man ,Freedom At 21 are fantastic additions.
I’m little on edge with the new Green Day & No Doubt songs.
Silversun Pickups drop from 2 to 25!?!
CHR:
I guess Rihanna don’t mind seeing Maroon 5’s faces again at #1 as long she’s #1 and never see them at the top again. Calvin & Example double teams to take the highest debut on the chart. Have fun at the Calvin Concert. New Ne-Yo is very good and Get It Started
Is not bad. Frank Ocean’s music’s is tight!
