It's hard to explain. The characters, voice acting, and overall pace/plot are amazing. Not even kidding. The personality in each character is way above any JRPG I've played.

The messiness comes in the actual game itself. The gameplay is quick and fun but sometimes stiff and unresponsive. The frame-rate issues can literally cause you to mess up and take damage. Whenever you have to face a big enemy, it's usually glitchy as hell.

But the core battle system is actually fun, which is why I'm still continuing to play it through all the bugs. And like I said, the writing is top notch. It has all the elements of an AMAZING game just without the engine support.

Plus, the intro video is one of the best I've seen as well. Giving me FF teas.

I want to buy Chrono Cross before the sale ends.

but Im still sad because when I had originally started it I put in hours and hours (I mean I put in WORK) of my time just for my file to get corrupted I loved it but I've never wanted to get back into for that damn reason alone.

I used to have Part 1 until my brother moved out. The first one is great! I just never got to play the last 3. The game is super fun though, but I kinda recall the combat getting old after a while. The last 2 games are kinda expensive now too

And you gotta play Chrono Cross again! I've played through that game like 5-6 times now I play it every year around the holidays.

I have a feeling Zesteria is going to be the best Tales since Vesperia (imo) and if y'all didn't know the protagonist can merge with 4 other characters

And while the graphics are as late as always, they look nice!

right! i love the tales series, but not them sticking with the xillia-type graphics for a third game! the faces look like plastic they need vesperia's cel-shading again, and to go back to more vibrant colours instead of being dull and boring

I'm also not here for that Graces ish gameplay, I want something more traditional, a la Symphonia/Vesperia.

I will buy this one and skip Xillia 2, but that will be the last time I support them if they keep on releasing PS2 looking games.

Vesperia has the best character art and the beautiful and subtle cell shaded graphics **** on Xillia and Zestiria's lifeless and plastic looking graphics!

Too bad I'll never get a chance to play it tho

Namco kinda screw up with ToZ, they should have showed one human character for every angel one, or they should've show one who is half-human/angel. And mess at them paying dust to Queen Edna
