I think the reason why they underperformed this era
was simply the music.
For the first single they used an intro from their ILY comeback stage
then the second single was practically something from the To Anyone era.
I think an important quality that 2NE1 has is that they make music relatable to the GP
Lonely, Go Away and UGLY are examples of that.
They didn't have that this era, if we compare it to the 2nd Mini era they had an amazing start with Lonely.
FIL and DYLM are fine songs just not the songs they needed after a year's break. If they'd been 2nd and 3rd singles they would have been better received.
Having said that dunno wtf is going on with YG these days. Last year was so good for them this year has been an across the board mess.

They're good songs, but NOT lead single material.
They would've done better off the momentum of ILY.
YG basically ruined their comeback and any hopes of the album selling if it EVER comes out.
The excuses, nobody was saying FIL wasn't lead single material when it was sitting on the Melon roof!!!111!!!
Right? "OMG, IT HIT THE ROOF 3 TIMES, 2LEGEND!", 2 days after when 2hasbeen1 left the melon top 5 she disappeared for a month, till the "Do You Love Me? (Nope)" release.
why is it so hard to stan for 2NE1? K pop groups are supposed to put stuff out regularly!
