The silence has me shook because it could mean that they really do have a great idea and they want to reveal it in a major way, but it could also mean they have nothing interesting planned and are hoping inspiration strikes in the next few months (/they don't want to reveal anything now and get us mad).

I doubt they have no ideas if they've already announced when it's getting released. If they really didn't have any ideas they would have released it this fall and if they really didn't have any ideas they would have waited until next fall

and yeah they gotta have cross-buy, which they probably will since that seems to be part of MyNintendo

I really hope it isn't backwards compatible. I feel like that is a step that has been holding them back. Everyone and their mother has a 3DS, and the only people that are every going to buy a Wii U have already bought one by now, so there should be no concern about players wanting to play 3DS or Wii U games on the next console.

Cross-buy is a must if this Double Dutchess concept of Console+Handheld is true...

One of the main aims of NX is that it's cheap. Kimishima has said that multiple times. Whatever the new innovation is, it wont be a Gamepad/Wiimote type of innovation as those were super expensive.

Ways they will cut cost is probably:
- Cartridges instead of discs
- No backwards compatible
- Based off of existing hardware instead of propriety ****.

I don't think the NX hybrid concept is true. I think there will be more parallel with the console and handheld though e.g. Instead of releasing 2 different MarioKart games within 3 years of eachother they just make one that works both on the future handheld and console.

Nintendo is smart, they are using secrecy to build hype for NX.

If they reveal the right games, they could have an explosive launch.

SD cards would make loading times virtually non existent. Just look at the 3DS.
