It’s very different. It’s not what you would think at all,” she hinted to V Magazine in a March cover story. “It’s a little more not-so-poppy. It’s kind of chill,” she told E! News in June.
Granted, her self-assessments can be misleading. “My most personal album to date” is a mantra that still strikes fear in the hearts of fans to this day, and every album since Blackout has been “cool,” “interesting,” and, of course, “urban.”But this time, she wasn’t just talkin': Glory actually is a chill, not-so-poppy record. And different. And artsy fartsy. And urban. It’s also strange — her oddest offering in over a decade. In fact, Glory plays most like the Spearitual sister to her most varied, vibe-y record: In The Zone.
omg the red part ****ing killed me most personal album will always haunt me so am I still the only one who has been strong enough and never downloaded the album(just heard the flawless bonus)?

I know I'm late but I've just listened to the leak, my excuse is that it's out in New Zealand...
Anyway, it's SO GOOD. Love Me Down is a BOP, single #2 please. I'm not really a fan of Better and Slumber Party will take a few listens.
Everything else is amazing. Man on the Moon omg. Gonna have more listens but I just keep going back to Love Me Down because it's SO ADDICTIVE. Invitation is incredible as well.
Trying to decide where Britney Spears fits into the pop landscape today is pointless: she doesn’t. She’s been at this at least a decade longer, and several albums deeper, than most of today’s chart-toppers. Lady Gaga stood in Times Square cheering for her as a fan outside the TRL studio. Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor were five when “…Baby One More Time” came out. Lorde was two. At least half of Fifth Harmony were barely infants.
But for members of pop royalty who’ve made it through the wildness in the same way she has, that’s exactly when things got interesting again.
Eighteen years into her own career, Madonna was coming off the Kabbalah rush of Ray of Light and switching gears with Music. Janet, also 34 at the time, was recording hits like “Someone to Call My Lover” and “Doesn’t Really Matter” for All For You. Mariah Carey was putting the finishing falsetto flourishes on Emancipation of Mimi follow-up, E=MC˛. Those eras are generally considered career-reinvigorating highs for each of those icons, and Britney’s own collection now follows suit.
oh wow all of this that was a great read tbh I know he's a stan but his review was amazing I agree with most of it he didn't pretend it was all perfect or that she is cuz she is not but most of what he said was on point.
OMG.
I just received my copy in the mail (best buy).
I didn't listen to the leaks.
Am about to take my pup to the park and blast Glory on the way to and from.

Like on 'Private Show', 'Clumsy' sees Britney's voice change from one line to the other. It's most definitely all her, but again, it's testament to the uniqueness of her vocals; she can play almost any character within the swoop of four bars. Saying that, 'Clumsy' is probably the only moment where Glory veers into generic territory. The EDM breakdown that substitutes the chorus sounds unfinished and like something from Britney Jean. Saying that, we love it when Britney references herself and the sweet "Oops" before the drop is a moment of bliss.
I've been saying this ALL ALONG.

Sounds like a Britney Jean production!! But I'm living for her voice-playing. It's really the weakest among the three.
Do people also feel like there are a few fillers on the standard but not a single filler amongst the bonus tracks? If I'm Dancing might even be one of my favorite Brit songs ever. So glad she came through! My other favorites for now are Slumber Party, Do You Wanna Come Over?, Man on the Moon, Just Like Me, Hard to Forget Ya, and Better.
!! I've said this too. If Britney released the 5 bonus tracks as some EP I would be so blown away and be extremely excited for whatever she's doing next. They're all so unique and different and not a single bad song.
