Taylor wasn't able to maintain this. Beyoncé would never speak a word about who a song like Bad Blood is about. She is extremely calculated and I love it.

The way Taylor wrote the song in Katy's lyrical style, just like she did with Dear John with JM. The way she stirred the pot with that early Bad Blood talk and ultimately managed to distract the press from making a story of it when she released it as a single with that video. The way she manipulated the press into writing stories about her AOTY victory as a feminist defense against Kanye when they would have otherwise been threatening to boycot the Grammys for ignoring black talent. The way she moved the entire conversation this era way from the complaints about her and boys to her and the squad. They're both masters of the game.
