those were some of the best selling albums this decade, yet I don't understand exactly what did they make people feel. They didn't make people feel anything, they just had a lot of promo and smash hit singles. I mean the fact that people buy albums they emotionally connect with is blatantly obvious but that is clearly not the only way to sell albums.
Btw add to those albums Frozen and any 1D or Bieber album that sold well.

There are plenty of artists who do promo and have smash singles but don't do anything. See the Jason DeRulos of pop music. Britney could do a million promo slots and have hit singles and people would still pay her newer albums dust. Trust that. Just because you don't understand it or it didn't make you feel any way doesn't mean that it didn't impact other people.

And there are plenty of albums that are good quality albums that people may connect to on an emotional level but fail to sell well.

You know I keep trying to have a discussion about album sales and why I think Taylors perspective was wrong and you keep changing the subject about Britney (who was clearly never known to have sold albums well). I understand perfectly what she meant, it doesn't take a genius to do that or write it, it's really simple and obvious as I've already said.

Sure. I don't disagree with that. But those albums that do manage to impact people in massive way in this climate do so because they impact people in an unusual way that other albums don't.
