Which is why I explicitly stated every time that I think TBBT has a way bigger overlapping demographic with The X-Factor. Modern Family definitely has a lower overlapping demographic.

It's just speculation, but looking at who the shows are aimed to, I think this is the case.

Maybe in the 1-18 demographic.

But Modern Family got better ratings in the important demographic (18-49) than TBBT. (5.5 vs. 4.8)

but yeah that probably means the teen demographic had to decide for both shows.
