Shut the **** up. There's no music video yet, it has had no live performances and it's already off to a better start on radio than OTF. You say you're a stan yet you're always in these threads being negative and overdramatic. No one knows if the song is going to be a hit but the promo campaign has not started yet and it's way too early for these unnecessary meltdowns.

Pardon, but do i know you? Stay in the class corner till you learn about respecting and not saying bad words. Kids nowadays are so disrespectul...
And the main reason for a better start comparing to OTF is basically a better radio promo, and clearly a radio deal - The promo campaign for it started 2 weeks ago when she started doing these radio interviews to promote First Love, she has major radio concerts headed too. You see what you want.

It hasn't even gone for radio adds officially and the radio concerts haven't even started yet. Realistically speaking, it's doing well considering Jennifer hasn't been a radio staple for awhile now. Like I don't understand what you're expecting the song to be doing right now, charting on the Hot 100 already when they're just still starting up the actual promo campaign? Jennifer isn't one of those Pop Girls who has frontloaded sales and whose single goes #1 on iTunes instantly (although I think by this point in her career she should be tbh) and as a "stan", you should know this. These radio interviews are all about getting her name out there again as a singer, letting people know she has an album coming out. I know it's frustrating and I honestly don't understand why she still needs to do this, but something isn't really clicking with the GP and they're trying. It's already off to a good start on radio and it officially impacts on the 20th, 2 days after the massive exposure she'll receive from the Billboard Awards. The music video should be coming out sometime in the next 2 weeks, she's doing a free show in the Bronx (although I think they should livestream it for more exposure imo), all the radio shows she's going to be doing all over the US plus a possible American Idol finale performance. After all of that and the song is still underperforming, I'd get it if you want to complain. Hell, I would be complaining too. But she is trying. Her label is trying. What more do you want them to do?

She and her label are doing what they are supposed to. Promo is on point this time. But the GP is not assimilating or accepting this new Jennifer: And this is the point i want to get. She is remembered now as a dance act, the minimum they should have done is basically balancing the album.
Jennifer is already in her fourth label (Sony [Work/Epic], Def Jam, 2101 Records, Columbia): There isn't much where she can go if this project doesn't succeed. It was a mistake changing her style drastically and even if you say she has always done cute pop and cute hip hop tracks, the current generation of music consumers don't really know her past.
What I'm afraid is actually the GP reaction, she can't create any buzz now, this is scary for her and for us.

agreed but I do believe that "First Love" is the gap between her hip-hop days and her dance stuff .
Lets wait for radio adds and concerts at this point

I agree to some extent, regarding the dance tracks. And we're still getting one for sure with "Big Booty" and there might even be more, we won't know until we get the tracklisting or clips of every song. But the major amount of the dance songs she recorded for this album were RedOne produced and that sound is over and done with now. What was the last actual hit RedOne had? The music industry is changing and artists can either adapt or stick to what they were doing before (like Gaga, and we all know how that turned out).
With the right R&B track, Jennifer will be able to get another hit. "I Luh Ya Papi" wasn't really given the chance to grow properly, they just gave up on it. And "First Love", although it does have its urban influences, is a pop track. So you can't say that she should've stuck to dance music when you haven't given her urban music a chance to properly make a splash.
There's sure to be a few urban bangers on the album ("Actin' Like That", maybe "Trouble", 'Love Line" and "No Worries") and I hope we see one or two as a single at some point down the line. I feel like she could get another hit with an up-tempo R&B song that has a feature with a relevant rapper. I have high hopes for the Iggy collab.
What I'm basically trying to say is don't be quick to judge this era when we haven't even listened to the album in full. You should give "First Love" a chance, you never know, it could end up being a hit after all. And if it doesn't, there's always "Big Booty" or the Iggy collaboration to save the era.

I also agree with you my dear. But RedOne is not the only dance producer out there, there are so many options that she could have reached and she certainly did at one point like Afrojack for example. I wish her the best but considering we have now only one month until the album drops, the results seem to be drastic. A smart move would be releasing a dance track for Europe now and Keeping these R&B/Hip Songs for the US. We know how much supportative US has been with Lopez during the past 10 years. I feel happy for her finally having the final words (for example, she stated that the Record Label didn't hear until one month ago the songs she recorded). It seems like she is in control, but i hope she realizes she can't decide those things by herself.
Anyway, she has already done the album, so nothing more can be cnanged or added now, let's see if she wakes up after album drops and realizes this need to better balance her music.
