Hilary Duff: #81 on AskMen’s Top 99 Women for 2008
Hilary Duff
About DIGNITY
Given the title and Hilary Duff's sophisticated, uptown-girl look on the cover, 2007's DIGNITY seems to announce that the teen starlet is all grown up. Yet the album is still full of effervescent dance-pop, as fresh-faced and catchy as fans of Top 40 and commercial bubblegum would expect. The production techniques, complete with electronic flourishes and nods to club music, are well crafted, to be sure, but DIGNITY isn't about cutting-edge sounds or thumping club bangers. Instead, the electro-beats reinforce the pop song structures and make the singalong tunes shine.
The most sophisticated thing about DIGNITY may be its lyrics. Gossip-mill regulars will be able to parse references to Duff's much-publicized entanglements with other commercial pop stars, but what stands out is Duff's mature response to her life's tumult. The album plays like a confession, but does so with a cool head and a clear eye, underscoring the album's title without detracting from the music's inherently fun, bouncy style.
Biography
Hilary Erhard Duff (born September 28, 1987) is an American actress, pop singer/songwriter and entrepreneur. After gaining fame for playing the title role in the television show Lizzie McGuire, Duff went on to have a film career; her most commercially successful movies include Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003), and A Cinderella Story (2004). She earned $15 million in 2005 and $12 million in 2006 and 2007.
Duff has expanded her repertoire into pop music, with three RIAA certified-platinum albums and over thirteen million albums sold worldwide. Her first studio album, Metamorphosis (2003) was certified triple platinum and she followed it up with two more platinum albums, Hilary Duff (2004) and Most Wanted (2005). Duff's latest studio album, Dignity, was released in April 2007 and was certified Gold in August 2007. So far, the album has shipped 907,300 copies worldwide.
She has also launched a clothing line, Stuff by Hilary Duff, and an exclusive perfume with Elizabeth Arden. Duff and her mother were listed as producers for the movie Material Girls, and she will soon produce her sister's debut album.
Her upcoming films include the 2007 action thriller War, Inc., animated comedy Foodfight! and independent films Greta and Safety Glass.

Hilary Duff #81 on AskMen’s Top 99 Women for 2008
Hilary Duff went up a few points on the 2008 edition of AskMen.com’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women poll. The list was compiled from over 5 million votes of the top 200 celebrities on a desirability scoring system.
Closing in at #81 this year, Hilary Duff is up 3 positions from her 2007 position at #84. Here is "why" they place Hilary at No. 81:
What Hilary Duff has accomplished at such a young age is impressive, not to mention how hot she’s looked while doing it. Aside from a superhuman amount of determination, Hilary has talent in spades. And she’s just released her third pop album, Dignity, which debuted at No. 3 on the U.S. charts. Not just a singer, Hilary Duff even stars on the big screen, taking the lead role in Greta and appearing in War, Inc., Safety Glass and Foodfight!. No wonder she’s on our list.
The top spots are held by Katherine Heigl (#1), Alessandra Amrosio and Kate Beckinsale.

New song called "Tiwsted"
1. New Song Title: "Twisted." The song is very electro-pop, reminiscent of Kylie's "In Your Eyes."
2. While having some time off in Brazil, Hilary started writing a new song.
3. Hilary said that the reaction in Brazil made her all the more appreciative of her fans.
Questions I asked:
4. What is an instrument Hilary is interested in learning? Hilary is interested in playing the piano.
5. Were there any other planned singles besides "Gypsy Woman" & "Dignity"? "Danger" was previously a planned single for Europe, but the label canceled it in July. Her label decided they didn't want to put any more money into album promotion & canceled the planned "Gypsy Woman" video as well. Both were supposed to shoot before the "Dignity" tour started in July.

Smile is a song recorded by pop musician Hilary Duff. The original recording cut was edited on September 21st, 2006 via Hollywood Records. The song was originally planned to have been featured on Hilary Duff's fourth full-length studio compilation Dignity (album), but due to the difference in genre of music, Duff decided not to add it to the record.
On January 9, 2008, Hilary Duff re-recorded the song with new lyrics and contrasting verses. The track is currently in production, and also contains backing vocals by producer Timbaland. Ryan Tedder and Timbaland are both working on the track together. The song will be added to Hilary Duff's 2008 studio record TBA. The track will be re-mixed for Timbaland's upcoming record.
Confirmed tracks from Duff's upcoming record are Reach Out and Smile.
*Smile is included in the soundtrack of Material Girls which was never released.

*Hilary is indeed recording new tracks.
*Hilary is excited for new music this year. (No word on whether it's the rerelease or a new album)
*"Reach Out" is still postponed but may be released as a single for a movie...
*Hilary wants to tour the rest of Latin America soon. Including the dates she missed last time. The record company however is not scheduling that yet.
*The DVD is still not scheduled for now. But due to the fan's popular demand it may be back in negotiations.
*Hilary is currently touring Mexico. (yes we know that lol)
*Hilary will return to the recording studio once she finishes up her tour. (Could this mean a new album!?!?)
*Hilary denied Jonny Makeup's attempts to record music with her stating that she was just to busy for now but maybe later. Apparently she wasn't impressed by his diva-like attitude either.
*Yes, Timbaland has approached Hilary before to do more than one song together, they haven't had any time to actually go into the studio together.
*Ryan Tedder really enjoys Hilary. He says that she's always a pleasure to work with & very "into" her music. If they ask him, he would be thrilled to work with her on her next album.
*Hilary is reading a script for a movie (that she's excited about) that may interfere with the possible tour in the summer.

Dignity Re-release Cancelled??
According to many sources, the re-release of Hilary Duff's third full-length studio compilation Dignity has been canceled. The re-release was supposed to feature all the tracks of Dignity remixed, plus new recordings by Hilary Duff. However, according to recent reports, everything has been canceled, except for maybe the forthcoming single Reach Out. Does anyone remember how Play With Fire came out much, much, much before the release of Dignity? Hilary is planning on doing the same thing soon.
Rumor has it that Hilary is going to scrap the re-release, and she's going to work on a new full-length album set for 2008. Her label is planning to release 'Reach Out' as a heater single much before the actual album just to give her fans a 'taste' of what her new album is going to sound like (Similar to what she did with 'Play With Fire' - she released it way before 'Dignity' to show her fans what her new sound is like). Anyhow, I hope we get to hear 'Reach Out' soon - I can't wait for new material! Whatever happens - happens for the best

It looks like 2008 is going to be all about Britney Spears but I think Hilary Duff is set for a big year. Homegirl has three movies coming out in ‘08 (Greta, Food Fight, and Safety Glass) and she turns 21!
As much as train wrecks keep me employed, I have a feeling she’s not headed into Spears/Hilton/Lohan/Richie territory.
Have to agree with them there! Hilary Duff is going to make a big splash in 2008 - and it won’t be for the wrong reasons.
What kind of public recognition / awards do you think Hilary could achieve in 2008? What do you think will give her a boost in recognition of her music, acting or business?

Hilary Duff's All-Time Cancelled Singles
1. Little Voice - A "live" version of this was released to Australian markets, but an actual video was supposed to be filmed for this single. No synopsis available.
Video canceled because Hollywood thought it would just be cheaper to release the "live" video. Had there been a new video, it would have still only been released in Australia, & possibly Europe.
2. Where Did I Go Right? - This was supposed to be the third single from "Metamorphosis." The video was to be set in winter, a lot of white & gray. There were to be flashbacks of her with her "boyfriend" & of them fighting.
The video/single was canceled because the record company wanted to do cross promotion for her music & "A Cinderella Story," since they were releasing the soundtrack, they wanted new music.
3. Weird - A single was released in Spain, the video was supposed to be shot before 2005. No synopsis available, but it was supposed to be another "live" video with a storyline going on in between the performance shots.
The video was canceled because Hollywood had been ready to give up on the era.
4. I Am - This was going to be released as a Disney Channel single. She?d be in room singing & there would have been real-life scenes like in "Fly."
The video was canceled two weeks before shooting was to start, most likely because of the same reason as "Weird." It was originally going to be shot before 2005.
5. The Getaway - Thanks to fan's feedback & Canadian airplay, this was set to be released as a single. There would have been scenes in the video of Hilary?s character packing, performance shots & in a car.
This was set to be shot in mid January of 2005. The only reason it was canceled was because of the decline of sales from the previous holiday week to a regular week. But all sales declined, so this was most likely canceled because Hollywood Record just wanted to give up on the era.
6. Do You Want Me - Always planned as the third single from Hilary's self-titled album. Due to the cancellations of the other songs, this didn't have a chance at being released.
7. Untitled Song - This was meant to be on "The Perfect Man" soundtrack. I'm sure all the fans would have loved this song, I'm not revealing this title for legal reasons but it was some of Hilary's best work. She recorded this in a rush because she was busy at the time. Hilary had also co-written it.
Hollywood canceled it because it was recorded last minute, & plans for "Most Wanted" had already been finalized. So they decided to just wait for "Wake Up" to be released.
8. Break My Heart - Definitely a big disappointment. The video was to be set in a school. Plus a few performance shots in the school & some singing shots in a classroom by herself.
Hilary was actually leaning to this song being released but Hollywood thought "Beat Of My Heart" would have been a better release. Obviously they were mistaken.
9. Supergirl - This was going to be released in February/March 2006. There were going to be lots of colors, especially orange. A lot like a commercial. Canceled for unknown reasons.
10. Material Girl - The video was supposed to be a modern remake of the original. Canceled in favor of "Play With Fire."
11. Never Stop - While mainstream was sent "With Love" as the first single from "Dignity," Hollywood was planning on releasing this as the first single for Disney Channel & Radio Disney. Hilary did not want to be affiliated with Disney any longer so the they canceled the video & released "With Love" to Radio Disney only.
12. Dignity - Was to be a radio single a month after "With Love" was released. A video was being planned as well. Canceled in favor for "Stranger."
13. Danger - This was going to be the second/third European single from "Dignity" (depending on where you lived). Set in a club, there would be some scenes of Hilary singing on the stage. Some really gorgeous face shots were planned as well. Dance scenes as well. As for the storyline, there'd be a man following her around the club & cornering her during the third verse in the bathroom. It sounded like a good video.
The video was canceled because Hollywood had already given up on the era. It was originally supposed to be shot sometime in between July 9th & July 20th & Hilary was really excited for it. It would have been her most provocative video yet.
14. Gypsy Woman - Was set to be the third single from "Dignity." The video was going to be pretty dark, VERY glamorous. There would have also been a dark break & Hilary would have had curly hair throughout the whole video. The full synopsis is top secret, I don't know anything about the storyline, just the overall feel.
Canceled because Hollywood have given up on the era. It was supposed to be shot in the same timeframe as "Danger." Between July 9th - July 20th. A TRL appearance to premiere the video had been set in August. But that was canceled as well. Hollywood would have sent this for adds in September.
15. Reach Out - The full synopsis was not available for this as well, but Hilary was supposed to be in front of a black background with her hair flying in some scenes. The video was also centered around blue colors.
Canceled for now. A song may be released in the future, no word on whether the video would be different from the original one they chose.
No other artist on Hollywood has had as many canceled singles as Hilary.
Here are some other artist's canceled singles:
1. Raven's canceled single: Bump
2. Jesse McCartney's canceled single: Blow Your Mind
3. Vanessa Hudgens' canceled single: Let?s Dance
4. Jordan Pruitt's canceled single: Miss Popularity
5. Everlife's canceled single: Now Or Never
6. Aly & AJ's canceled singles: Out Of The Blue & Bullseye (in favor of ?Like Whoa?)
7. Corbin Bleu's canceled singles: Stop (for Disney Channel) & I Get Lonely (was supposed to be his first mainstream single)
Well that is the information I have for this week, next week I'll return with the usual updates. Hope you enjoy this update.
