Just when I thought I was gonna see them...
“It is with great regret that The Killers have been forced to cancel their upcoming appearances in Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo and Seoul due to unforeseen circumstances..." This awful news came out and became the biggest WTF moment of my early 2010. Along with this is a more awful news/speculation about the band calling it quits. I had no idea what was happening during that time, but things started to get a bit clearer sometime in June when Brandon Flowers released "Crossfire." This somehow gave me the idea that maybe the band has indeed already pulled the plug. I know its a bad thought, but it was actually a chance for me to appreciate Brandon more as a musician. "Crossfire" sounds like a typical Killers song, but for me its actually better than most of the band's singles. Listening to it just gives me the feeling of calmness and tranquility. Aside from that, I also love how Brandon used the line "crossfire of heaven and hell" to describe two people caught in an "illegal and immoral" relationship . Of course its open for interpretations, but that's how I see it. The best part of the song for me however is the entire bridge ---
"Tell the devil that he can go back from where he came
His fire he airs all through their beating vein.
And when the hardest part is over we’ll be here
And our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears."
LYRICS.OF.THE.YEAR. I just don't get tired of listening to this song.
P.S. In a recent interview, Brandon said "We’re going to reconvene in May, it looks like, to get together and start writing." SO ALL IS ****ING WELL.
