Gaga's acting capability always surprises me. I was even impressed with Machete Kills.
Considering that Gaga had one day to film that and literally had no connection with the character she played etc. no months of learning scripts and training....
am i the only one who really can't tell if someone's acting is bad or good (unless it's an amateur?)
cause i've seen a lot of people saying some people's acting in AHS is awful but I didn't notice.
It depends. I think a lot of people here who judge the AHS actors have work references from the actors other works which is why they judge them harshly. Like itd be noticeable if Kathy bates did a crap job.
I'm confused, so she's supposed to kidnap 4 kids, and here we can see these kids sitting around her while she reads something to them, but why is there 2 extra kids behind the glass looking like inanimate dolls ?
No you're not, a lot of people like Emma's acting.

Like, I mean, I can recognize bad acting (Like, in some random movies where you can clearly see it) but like, I didn't see anything bad in AHS so idk.
She's not a bad actress, just not as theatrical, unique, or believable as the rest of the cast is. I think Emma Roberts would actually fair well with teenage-angst Hollywood movies, but on AHS she sticks out like a sore thumb. She's just wrong for this show IMO. Unless someone has the acting chops to keep up with Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Denis O'Hare, and I dare I say even Finn Wittrock after this season, who are quite literally a handful of the best actors I've had the pleasure of watching in my life, then they're just going to look worse of an actor than they actually are. Not just Emma Roberts.

Also, she's the niece of Julia Roberts, and it's kinda obvious how she got the role (same goes for Grace Gummer).
Another aspect might be that she punched Evan Peters or something, I don't know the details. Domestic violence isn't cool anyway, of course, and Evan Peters is also one of the most popular actors on the main cast so fans where upset.
But I agree, she did a pretty good job as Maggie so far, I actually enjoyed her appearance last episode. On top of that Maggie doesn't have much in common with Madison, so people can't say she's only able to play a spoiled bitch anymore.

Great to see that all the good reviews on Scream Queens praise her acting, though. Jamie Lee Curtis praises Emma's acting in every single interview she's in. Hew else?
