I don't see how it can't get a general field nomination. It was number 1 for 7 weeks, spawned viral videos, and had good AirPlay, sales, streams.
I mean Shake it off and All about the bass were nominated for general fields neither of those songs are meaningful but instead have the stats/popularity.
