Psychological thrillers are generally the scariest breed of horror films in my experience. The only movie that's ever scared and disturbed me (at the age of first exposure) was The Butterfly Effect.

It isn't scary it's just sort of creepy.

This one episode of Baywatch scared me more than 99% of the horror films I've ever seen.

And for whatever reason watching the first episode of "The Wonder Years" as a 5-year-old was vaguely traumatizing

Silence of the Lambs is the first film that ever blew my mind. Perfect direction, perfect acting, perfect script.

I was very impressed by its underlying message of gender inequality and how Clarice fought to be taken seriously regardless of her looks.

nnn It the movie traumatized me, I wasn't ready for it. I couldn't go upstairs, use the bathroom/shower, close my bedroom door for about a month after watching it
