Silence of the Lambs is still sorta terrifying. I think I've only seen it once.
Ugh at horror films never breaking into the Oscars. I was kinda hoping Black Swan would make it and would win awards in 2010 (aside from Natalie Portman - was also low-key rooting for True Grit) but.. like they say, sweep the Indie Spirits and lose the Oscar. Love Darren Aronofsky so much.

Everybody's first horror movie experience is iconic. What is yours?
I started off right with the ORIGINAL Halloween. I was probably about 7 or 8 and had a terrible time sleeping, though.
I had the audacity to go the premiere of the first horror movie produced in my country when I was about 12-14. Needless to say the movie didn't leave me until after a month.
It was based on a real story (of which there are actually videos) and truly exploded all of the country-side/forest urban legends about witches that roam around when you're a kid.
