Really? Do you know Freedom reached to #19 on iTunes when it was first released (and hasn't even sold half of HS). HS also reached to #38 on iTunes when it was first released. RIM also reached to #15, and yet HS outsold it.
You can't compare chart positions for songs that are released on iTunes as singles (I mean actual single versions, not songs from albums), because it wouldn't make sense.
BITT is GOLD. DIOE is GOLD. Those two are the only two Urban singles that have went gold, as has RBMS I believe.
The issue is you guys look at SS & SB and think every single will to 4x Plat, when it won't. M4L is only Platinum. YL is only Platinum. Fly is only platinum, and these are all only crossover songs. These aren't 100% Urban songs.
Body Party is one of the biggest Urban songs in the country, and yet HS has outsold it (without the BB performance).
An Urban song will only do great digitally if the chorus is catchy. I mean catchy. Like literally catchy & radio friendly. Songs like SFTB, Love Me, Tap Out, Bugatti, Pour It Up, BITT, DIOE. They all have catchy hooks.
HS WILL go Gold, just like DIOE + BITT.
