The Countess is probably the character that has received the most exposure with AHS promo. I doubt she's going to be some kind of a filler character.
And debating whether 8 out of 13 episodes constitutes whether a character is important or not is kind of silly. Think of how Game of Thrones is not going to have every single one of its huge character roster show up in every episode.
They are not gonna slap Gaga's name in big red letters if her character is not important to the season, especially when her character is the owner of the setting.

I don't understand the logic with this. This is American Horror Story. Not Game of Thrones. Episode count is important to character importance when you only have 13 episodes to get out an entire story arc. Game of Thrones is ongoing.
As for her name being everyone, it's obvious they're using her for promotion. There's literally no question about that.
But I don't think she's going to be some filler, unimportant character. I know she's going to be important to the plot, but I don't think it's fair to say that she is THE lead character and THE most important character of the season just because of all the promo she's getting. Ryan said it's an ensemble cast, and I'm going to hold him to that.
Celebrities do usually get the short end of the stick acting wise on shows like this. So I think people are just genuinely curious as to how this is gonna play out.
I don't think she'll be the most prominent character but she'll definitely be the most important to the story, it's her Hotel, everyone is doing stuff for her. An Elsa Mars tea
Even if she dies in the 8th episode, doesn't mean she can't be the most important character for the overall story.
She also (and most likely) has a relationship with the most characters (from the bigger ones). Chayenne, Matt, Fin, Angela, Kathy. Sarah and Evan's characters are located in the Hotel, which again - Gaga owns.
I mean .... In my opinion it's not a big reach to think Gaga will be more important than most of the others. Overall all off them are important, every character is important for the story, but yeah..
