For BTW I understood the campaign and why there was so long in between, but with ARTPOP, I felt like she should have just put the single out and tried to get the album out as soon as possible.

Tbh. November was just a bad idea. They could've easily released in September. Could've used the VMA buzz and Swinefest as promo, and Applause was really taking off then so that would've made people go out and buy the album. They really just let things die inbetween Applause and the album release. DWUW got a lot of press, but that died pretty quickly. The Dope YTA performance also got that press, but not the good kind. And Venus really didn't do anything at all. Looking back, I'm surprised the album opened with as much as it did

So giving her that hardcore promo could bring attention back on her like never before. Especially because she isn't overexposed anymore. A hit single would help even further.

In a way, it made sense what they did. Had Gaga promoted the way she did during BTW, it would have come off very "faded popstar trying to be bigger than she is". I know we all have our issues with ARTPOP, but I don't think it did that much damage GP-wise. The issue was with the media this time around. 'Applause' and 'DWUW' were the first times in a while that both the public and radio took to her singles in an organic way instead of a forced way. Like I've said before, all it takes is the right song handled the right way and bam, she's back.
The next era will be truly interesting to witness. ARTPOP showed her that not even her most dedicated fans are all that dedicated to her when she doesn't succeed. She told fans that it really opened her eyes to a lot of things and that it disappointed her in a way. Her next album might be "**** the fans, here's what I'm gonna do," which I'm totally here for.

I really hope they submit Dope for Pop Solo Performance for Grammy noms. It got critical acclaim and reached the Top 10 so why not try

Agree with a lot that's being said.
Particularly that the soft-launch approach after the intensity of BTW was smart in theory, but ultimately meant she took a backseat to Prism getting the relentless BTW treatment and Miley getting the Gaga-esque scandal exposure. It was a shouting match for attention, and she whispered.
I think her - and the albums - fortune would change had Applause been released in early summer, with DWUW being launched at the VMAs alongside the release of ARTPOP shortly after in September. That shift forward probably would have been enough. Alas, hindsight.
Ultimately though, I also agree that ARTPOP was the album she thought people wanted. She did what her fans asked and she did what her label asked. The result being sexy pop jams and urban collabs, and when that didn't hit the spot...she understandably got pissed and tensions grew. Whilst a crap album can still be a success (see: pop peers), it's a problem for Gaga when people hold her to such high standards and focus on flaws to 'teach her a lesson'. "Fans" do it, too.
-
I hope her next move is creating an album she wants to make, with the people who will best help that vision. I feel success for her will lie in an authentic effort - something different and something true. Something more akin with 21, Jagged Little Pill, Back to Black, or even Ray of Light, Stripped etc. in that it's not necessarily on trend, but it's undeniably a good album that is SO Gaga that people just click with it and defines a new phase in her career.
I don't feel success will come, or be welcomed as warmly, if she attempts an (obviously) calculated hit haul with trendy producers. We'll all see right through it the moment the producers are announced. Stans may get giddy from the potential bragging rights, but critics will sharpen their weapons.
-
And yet again she mentioned Stevie Nicks. I think we have a #5 direction.

I honestly don't even know what I want from her at this point and I'm both frightened and excited about it. On one hand, I love pop and dance music so I want her to continue that, but on the other hand I wouldn't be mad if she experimented with a different genre of music because I find myself being quite versatile when it comes to music. At the end of the day, I guess I just want organization and something that feels real.

I would love for her to work with Lissie. She's a great artist an her album Back To Forever is really really good. But I doubt Lissie would want to work with her despite covering Bad Romance a few years ago. Their voices would work so well together on a rock/pop song.

My gut feeling is that altpop/rock is the next move for her.
Her music often drifts into rock style anyway, but is sweetened by pop and disguised by synths. And we all know she's a glam rockstar in pop clothing. I feel we've seen what she can do with dance/pop for now, and something fresh is in order.
She could take it in different ways. It'll probably live as a power pop/rock experience, where she applies her big choruses to guitars and drums. Much more timeless/live feel. Something aggressive, powerful and emotional. The perfect post-ARTPOP device for her to express her anger, passion, love and struggle.
Plus, she looks hot with her black hair, leather, band tees etc. thing she's got going on.

Just got back from the artRAVE which was the first time I've ever seen her. And my God did she slay my soul. Two of my friends came with me who aren't Gaga fans and they had a blast. They hated Lady Starlight which I can't really blame them because she was boring as ****. People need to stop calling her fat because she looked perfect in person. That Sexxx Dreams performance put everything to shame. It has now become my favorite Gaga song. I will always be sad it never got the time to shine as a single. After going to the show, I can appreciate ARTPOP so much more now. Seeing the songs live makes them 1000 times better. Sorry for my unorganized typing. I'm really tired and am trying to get my thoughts out.

I was in section 102 row 11. We were right in front of the piano. Or behind? She was facing away from us while playing. My friends and I were so bored during Lady Starlight. She was the only bad part of the night. That note was sweet and I love how Gaga got choked up while reading it.
