Usher killed himself. His effort to continuously stay current on the music scene in terms of what's hot at the moment caught up with his age.

Then he tried to be more artistic than usual....

And this is the point I was making. Bey is most def responsible for that. Nobody in mainstream was focused on being artistic until ST IMO. I mean did you see keke palmer music film? Say what you want but bey has most def changed the game and set the bar that everyone is now trying to reach

Everyone sounds basic in comparison. She releases great music + great vocals and touches on important themes and subjects in complex ways.

I hate to say it, but she surpassed my old faves with Lemonade. I'm not gonna say who those are, because I don't wanna argue with the stans but yeah, I think she pretty much released one of the greatest albums of all time

i'm not getting caught up in the hype b/c there was no reason why she shouldnt have won for ST & she didnt. They even had Prince up there to set it up. its going to be the same thing as this year...most rooting for Kendrick & then they called Taylor. so i'm fully expecting to hear someone say "And the album of the year goes to...Adele 25" and Adele going up there for the award.

Why ST didn't win:
- too explicit and sexual
- surprise release alienated traditionalists
- ****** Grammy performance of Drunk
- rumor, but i suspect it's true, Columbia being shady and campaigning for Pharrell instead of Bey
- two urban albums nominated for AOTY
- Not enough cross genre appeal, had to rely solely on Urban (that had to be split) and maybe some Pop.
