I love Aaliyah too, but so many of her stans are so fckn ridiculous and delusional -- like, yeah Bey obviously liked Aaliyah and her music, but it gets them off so much thinking somehow Aaliyah had this massive influence over Bey when they're nothing alike musically or stylistically -- or even worse, the "Bey never would've happened if Aaliyah lived" delusion. It's just the fact that Bey was a peer and was the only one that was active during that era that went on to do the things they wanted to see her do or at least have the chance to do so they project and try to find ways to insert Aaliyah in that narrative of long term success by any means possible.
