I actually adore the Met Gala 2016 makeup. It's not the most flattering and changes her face shape a bit, but it works so well with the outfit. A soft and dewy look for it would have made no sense. It was nice to see her in a smokey eye as she usually wears very natural, minimal makeup looks.
She was definitely the best dressed that night, not just doing a tacky metallic idea of robots.
Nah it's usually the makeup and not the hair color that influences how older or younger Bey looks:

For me it's all three that need changing: the hair, fashion and makeup. Bey also doesn't wear the clothes, the clothes wear her.
The Met gala makeup was awful. Her makeup artist hates her.
Beyonce seems not to like change when it comes to her image, so there's no point talking about all that.
