"10 Mile Stereo" was apparently the closest Beach House had come to shoegaze in a pre-"Sparks" world. I am not 100% on what shoegaze is but if it sounds like those two songs it must slay! The song builds up gradually along it's five-minute run-time, adding more and more instruments to the mix and eventually ending sounding as huge as it's title suggests. It was also performed on Conan due to year-end list buzz, but was never released as a single.
When Spin magazine asked which song made her cry, the good sis Kirsten Dunst answered with this song. Clearly she has better taste than y'all!
Best bit: When that hypnotic synth comes in after the first chorus. Also the cymbals. Best lyrics: "Love's like a pantheon / it carries on forever"
