Rated R is platinum, just like every other Rihanna album sans MOTS. It only had one hit single despite the other two going top ten.
But, considering the facts that there was SO much hype leading up to that era, and she promoted that album more than the last two combined, and she only sold 181k first week, i definitely see what you mean.
