There's really no need to make oppression a competition.

they do the same in the UK
I think it has something to do with how the seats are arranged. It's pretty convenient if you're travelling in groups. And it's the warmest part of the bus.

Same here, but they need to stop jacking something that is clearly not the same.
Only similarity is we were/are both discriminated against. I can stand behind the statement that like blacks you are fighting for rights. But the rights you are fighting for is not the kind of rights we fought and still fighting for.

Hey have y'all noticed how black kids automatically go to the back of the bus? I never did growing up because that's where all the drama went down and people got their asses beat, but black kids are always in the back. Do they not now how hard we had to fight to have the "luxury" of sitting in the front?
|
I never went to the back of the bus either for the same reasons you did. Black youths need guidance and taught about the things our parents/grand parents fought for.

Exactly. I feel like if you think one type of oppression is wrong, then you should think all are equally even if you don't necessarily experience all first hand. Like I have no idea how it is to be oppressed for being gay, but as a black person I know how it is to be in that position because I am black and because I am a female.

I've only ever ridden school buses for field trips. My mom drives me to school and I walk home. On most school buses I've been on, every section of the bus is diversely occupied.

Additionally, it is inherently racist and homophobic to argue whether racism and homophobia is currently worse. Straight people should not be telling Gays how hard or easy it is to be gay and White people should not be telling Black people how hard or easy it is to be Black. Unless you're both Black and gay at the same time, then you shouldn't be talking in the first place.

This.
I agree with you too james it just irks me when gay white males try to equate past oppression to their own. Like can you not compare the two? they are not alike and saying things like gay is the new black is belittling a problem that still exists.

IKR I mean what are we gonna do tally up votes.
I personally do believe blacks had it ten times worse but I will never diminsh the struggle of being gay cause chile that was some other different type of discrimination and opression in it's own right. I guess I see it this way as I am BOTH black & bisexual

When I was in elementary school Molly, Becky, and George insisted on being within the first 3 seats. I was right there with them, but most of my black friends were in the last 3. I mean it might be different nowadays because Lord knows something ain't right with this generation, but hey.

Going off topic here, but um YES. Children just seem to be getting WORSE and WORSE. 10 year-olds on instagram. 12 year-olds with relationship drama. What's going on?

well look at the programs dedicated to 90's children and beyond a lot of them deal with teenage type themes from shows like teen titans all the way to that's so raven as examples. Then they go on and emulate that, I remember hearing growing up so many 9/10 year olds talk about dating each other

At the end of the day, anyone who has experienced oppression knows how it feel to be denied of something because of something beyond your control. No one should EVER have to experience that, period. You may feel like the pain you feel, first hand, is more painful than someone else's, but why is there a comparison? That's one of the problems in itself; people want to cast judgment on something they are completely naive of.

You know, Clark, I used to think it was because parents are getting younger, but that's not the case. Women have always had kids at young ages. My mom had both my older sister and brother before she graduated high school and me at 21. She raised her kids though.

That's why is annoys me, we're both oppressed so why are you trying to jock something to make it seem like your oppression is just as bad?. It doesn't work that way and the sooner we get over the oppression pissing contest the better.

They're not saying it's "just as bad," they're saying it's similar.

It's not trying to jock something gays are saying it has some similarities (excluding the ppl that believe gay is the new black). But this is such a sensitive topic so even a slight comparison riles people up from both sides

But they had people of the appropriate age playing the characters. Disney star actors are getting younger by the year. And they are dressing even mature, as if they are going to a rave.

I just "babies having babies" is nothing new. I honestly just feel like it's more accepted now. Sometimes it even seems like it's glorified by certain shows on TV. The thing is, it should never be accepted.
