December 2011
Here it is folks, the last edition of the chart before the coveted Year End 2011 chart. And for the first time ever, the two #1 singles this week are #1 on their respective formats at radio as well (Alternative, and CHR/Pop)
Alternative
On the eve of the release of their highly anticipated album, El Camino, the Black Keys score their first ever #1 after netting two top 10 hits last year with Tighten Up & Howlin For You. City & Color continues to be a model of consistency as he nets another leggy hit in Weightless, the successful follow up to Fragile Bird. This is Rise Againsts third top 5 hit this year, boding well for their year-end campaign. Now that Pumped Up Kicks has finally left the chart, and is poised for a year-end top 10 finish, Foster The People usher in two new tracks which should set them up nicely for 2012. For year end prospects, chart stablemates Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, and Coldplay will all see great results singles and albums wise, while underdogs Florence + The Machine and Civil Wars could play spoilers on both tallies as well.

CHR
With Drake & Rihanna having dropped HUGE albums this past month, its no surprise the top of this chart is Ri and Drizzy heavy. Plus, I went to the Kanye and Jay Z show, which will go down in my top 5 greatest concerts of all time list. What a mammoth hit marathon, ending off with *****s in Paris 5 bloody times! That **** was definitely cray. After a headlining year, Adele continues to impress with three singles yet again in the top 10. This marks exactly 12 months since Rolling In The Deep has been on the chart, and 11 for Someone Like You. Set Fire To The Rain sees a re-entry, heavily influenced by its start at radio and the release of her live DVD at the Royal Albert Hall. Without question, all of these singles along with Rumor Has It, plus the album 21, will have an absolutely monstrous showing on the year-end tally.
