why do the Katycats keep saying that Prism will sell incredibly in the long run ? Like you really know. TD did it with several #1s and a re-release. She did not really have longevity, it was just because she kept releasing singles and they smashed, and then the re-release. Prism does not seem to have that many of hits, we just dont know if it will have longevity or not.

338k in 2006 is actually WAY worse than 275-300k in 2013.
Of course, if you want to talk about this year's receipts I guess the bold part still works.

3 years charting is not longevity?
Where was "Born This Way" by the time that the heavily promoted "Marry The Night" was released? I mean, if you keep releasing singles the album must still sell.... right?
PRISM doesn't have many hits? Lol.

longevity comes when it have huge single after huge single. simple logic.
TD had 8 150m airplay single with re-release, that's why it has longevity.
nobody know If katy will have another TD single smash or gaga's BTW size success.
but based on first week sales, it's not good.

what the **** are you even talking about?
TD is about to spend it's 156th week (3rd) year on the BBtop200 list
it literally never left the top200
and the last single was released more than a year ago

TD left the BB200 for a couple weeks this summer, but still very impressive considering the las single was released over a year earlier.

TD sold 2M before re-release That's good.
And OOTB sold 1.5M with only one #1 hit. Get your facts right.

OOTB sold 1.5M with only one #1 hit, a #3 peaking hit that was way bigger than her debut and another top 10 that reached #1 on pop.
Animal also sold 1.4M with an #1, a minor hit that reached top ten thanks to the first single, a quite big #4 song and another song going top ten with a generally quicker era.
(quite good, just wanted to show that it's not that incredible)

That's exactly what longevity means... plus Teenage Dream charted for 8 months after Wide Awake and has been charting for about 4 months without a single.

I didn't say OOTB sales are incredible, wtf
But you don't need 5 #1s to sell, OOTB is an example of that.

Almost everything you said isn't anything different than what other pop girls do. This "Katy Perry day" is so exaggerated.
