Yeah, lead-singles are usually the only singles from an album that will sell above 3M.
Lady Gaga had it with
Poker Face and
Just Dance because
Just-Dance was a late-hit. So both of them performed as the "lead"-single.

Boom Boom Pow for
12 weeks. That means it could have spent
13 weeks at #1 if BBP wasn't released (Poker Face was #2 for 12 weeks)
But that doesn't stop a single from going #1 on iTunes. It might end up having no longetivity, but it can still sell a respectful amount of copies, regardless the album sales.
YLIMD and Alejandro should end up selling the same amount.
