To be fair, Brooklyn Nights didn't fit with the theme of the album.
Now that I ponder it, the album really had no concrete theme. "Creative rebellion" meant including whatever sounds noisy, I guess. The whole "reverse Warholian expedition" ish was far too ambitious for a mainstream-minded Gags.
The "art pop" theme had nothing to do with the music
Glad we have all decided that Fashion! is the only underrated song on Artpop (I would have said Dope but it is actually her most critically acclaimed song since The Fame). Crazy how will.i.am is the second best producer on Artpop.
Looking back, I think Fashion! would have made such a great single. It has that throwback 70's sound that Get Lucky had, its catchy, and it stands out. They could have used it for commercials for perfume or cologne or something too.
