@Halsey
Girl, I don't hate you, but you bother me. You have to understand that when you expose yourself to the public eye trying to be edgy, fresh and cool, some people might like your work and some people won't like it. Your Love Yourself cover might find a good place in a certain public, but you have to understand that when you replace the chorus for "**** yourself" and do that jaw thing, you are triggering another reaction at the same time, which is thinking your cover was a try hard attempt.
The "I'm just a 21 year old girl" excuse does not work. You are not just a 21 year old girl, if you were, then you would have kept making 1D covers on Tumblr and live a normal life without fame and sucess. If you were a normal 21 year old girl you wouldn't be making performances and caring about your public brand recognition.
I'm honest, I liked some of the songs on your album, but you just do too damn much. You come across as the girl in class who wants to always be the protagonist. If someone on the class was sick, you would answer "yeah, well, I had a very bad ilness too and now I suffer from it", if someone in the class had a problem with their parents, you would answer "well my parents kicked me out once and I had to live on the streets". You have a brand problem and it's no one's fault except you. While I understand that there's a huge hyperbole going around your persona, you are not that bad, but you have to control what you say and how you act. People will always criticize you, look at Beyoncé for example, how awesome she is yet people still find something to complain about her. But when you expose yourself to the public with things like "New Americana", the Love Yourself cover and your quotes about sexuality, then accept that people aren't going to like it or else, remain shut.
