Episode 11
The Final Critiques

Carbon:
I like the that the fruit outfit still had some of your style in there, and it's clear you did the best part of the song. The best drag is very you, I don't know if I would've seen the skirt myself but I don't hate it. The lipsync was... weird, I didn't really like it. I didn't get the same compelling feel that your earlier story had. It felt like a Pea lipsync but without the wink and nudge.
As for your performance, you were definitely an obvious finalist from early on. The effort and heart in your entries was clear, and you had your own unique style that made you stand out next to messy queens and generic runway queens. I think your look is your most distinctive side, but to pigeonhole you as just a look queen would be wrong. You winning this crown would not be a shock, nor would it be undeserved. You put in the work required and you deserve a long rest after this. Good luck henny.
Aciid:
The fruit outfit was you but toned down and I got what you were going for, but it wasn't your best. The best drag on the other hand is definitely the best of your style. Shade, but I agree with the ugly-pretty angle. I've thought that for a while. I love that this is everything I think of about Aciid: piercings, animalistic, the kiss curls and especially the flowers. Gorgeous graphics for the lipsync, but where was my song? ****. I liked that you still kept your sense of humour to the end, it's really what I liked most about you day 1.
It's not difficult to see why you were a frontrunner from day 1: No matter the challenge you slayed it. Comedy, looks, personality, designing... You did it all. And what I admired most was that you always used your strengths to boost you up even in challenges you felt out of your league in. People like you and Carbon and Pea kept me interested in this Season when the deadlines got near and I had 1000 assignments due. You've truly blossomed in the competition and I hope you book some time off after this. Best of luck henny.
Koko:
The look screams Kiwi alright, but it's not a particularly nice look... The lyrics were ok, but I think some of them were reaching to fit a rhyme into the songs time. The best drag is very disco Kennedy, I appreciate what you're saying but it's a little difficult to envision based on what you presented. Still, it is very you. Luckily the lipsync is always your excel area, and this was a nice and cute way to close the competition.
Being honest, I was not expecting you to be here as I was the other two. In season 1 I would've had more to say, but I think I've said a lot this season. I haven't always been fair or nice to you, especially this season. It's easy to look at your performance and write you off, but it's also important to recognise charisma. And as the most prolific of the Top 3 I feel like you'd advertise the title and the future of the game a little better, but is that enough? Regardless, judging you has been fun and despite what went down last round you can't begrudge this Top 3 position. Good luck hunty.

FINAL CRITIQUES:
Carbön:
I think your final lipsync was the best of the three tonight-- it has every single thing that I looked to you for, and you really did highlight the strength of yours I wished I could've seen more, which is your writing. The prose was an absolutely delightful read that had me cackling at all the wrong places (because I'm a terrible person, not because of your writing choices), and your three-part act structure with perfectly-chosen songs was a great, innovative way to execute your lip sync. You earlier told me you were worried that you would DIE if you had to LSFYL, but this tells me that you could've held your own... at least, once. You displayed your talent, showed some earnest emotion, and still included the traditional sense of lipsyncing with your songs. This was truly fantastic, and I'm very much proud to see this.
Good lord, I was not expecting this look from you. Like, I really, really wasn't. You even Snapped me a preview of it mid-sketch and I still wasn't expecting it. At least, at first glance. Seeing it, I think it's very much different from the other things you've done-- sure, it's still a sketch, and sure, it's still got some weird spacey touches to it, and sure, it still feels unfinished, all of which is very much indicative of your style (even though your looks are never bad), but it feels like a new side of you that I haven't seen. Some kind of Steven Universe gems fusion teas. The hair is cotton candy I'd love to eat, and the cyborg arm brings us back to your lip sync look. However, the skirt is my favorite aspect of the outfit, and I wish the rest of it could've followed in the steps of it-- far more fashionable, but still with your futuristic, odd details. My main quarrels with this look is the way it's accessorized-- there needs to be some kind of necklace or embellishment on the top rather than the vast gray space, and the upside down cross earrings feel out of place on this ensemble. However, it's still a grand look, and I can see how it's your best drag look, and I appreciate it for what it is, and how it represents you. Hope a crown fits on that wig, though.
You've been such an interesting person to see in this game. That probably sounds generic as hell to say, but I can't think of a better opening statement. You're the only queen this season that I got to know on a personal level, since we started talking, and it's difficult for me to say if it's affected my views of you as a queen (though, obviously, one is inclined to say "yes"). You embodied talent in one of the most literally artistic ways seen here, in your drawing, which really took me by surprise since the drawn looks last season were offensive. However, like with Aciid, your looks, while brilliant and the most-noticeable aspect of you as a queen, are not all there is to you. Your talent with writing, as shown in the Bio Queens challenge, and in your final lip sync, is absolutely wonderful, and all were thrilling to read. You excelled in pretty much every kind of challenge-- "acting", fashion, performance, comedy, and so on. While I think you lack some nerve, you're still incredibly unique in your sense of style, and identity (as Carbön, not Grandy). Sure, you had your slip-ups (like that shared fop with the workout challenge, even though you were hysterical there, or your Snatch Game fluke), but you still have an amazing run, solidifying yourself as a strong competitor and one very-much deserving of the crown. However, you have the most charisma left out of the top 3, which I became aware of in the last couple weeks before it reached a climax with your ultimate self-reflection on mediocrity and self-doubt. I think the win would do the most for you, as a person, and you're a wonderful, intelligent, witty, talented person who deserves all the success you can get, here or elsewhere.
Aciid Rose:
I will start off by saying, this lip sync was a minor disappointment from you, since you've displayed far grander things, but it was far from bad-- as you'll read in your "final" critiques (the third paragraph here), I think what's "meh" from you is still a "great" from most other girls, and it's absolutely wonderful to be slayed on weekly basis by someone. You have no right to obliterate me and your competitors like this all the time. The different song titles each made me scream ("Off to Taco Bell" was my personal favorite), and, as usual, you slayed your graphics. While I love Gwen Stefani, I wasn't too fond of your song choice-- you probably could've chosen one better as a closing for your full-season arc. Though, you still gave a mess, a kii and a cackle.
While it's certainly no surprise to anyone, you churned out another practically-unclockable. As I explain in a minute, you may be categorized as a "look" queen, but that's not all there is to you; you just happen to excel at visuals, and people seem to notice that the most. The Versace shoes are an odd choice for such a loud outfit, but I suppose that could be seen as trying to not divert attention from everything else, which is totally fair. Your hair, also, bothered me at first, but I couldn't help but eventually appreciate it as part of the ensemble (and perhaps embracing your culture? Are braids latin? Someone do some research because I don't think Rapunzel was Hispanic). My main quarrel with this, however, is that I don't think it's your best drag-- it does a good job of representing who Aciid is, but I've seen you push further and do bigger and better. Your Frida Kahlo & Lip Sync entry looks are more what I would have liked to have seen from you here.
Throughout this entire competition, you've been probably the most consistent out of everyone here. Because of that, Scarlett likened you to Carrie from last season, which, in that sense, isn't untrue. You know your greatest strengths, and you use that to your advantage at every single given opportunity-- it's hard to pinpoint them, other than an astounding taste, but your ability to pass pretty much anything by us and have it so refined that we can't help but gag in amazement is something truly wonderful. But, personally, I don't think you have any glaring weaknesses. You haven't had any bad weeks, you never stumbled, you never fell short in any of these weeks. Even when you were "mediocre", you were miles ahead of the other girls who were bursting blood vessels trying to do their best. Out of all of the girls in the past two seasons, all tea, all shade, you're probably the "best" queen to come out of this game. Take that how you will, when other girls show "potential", you display excellence. When other girls do good, you do better. You've embodied everything I think ATRL's Next Drag Superstar should be-- well-rounded, polished, refined, ecclectic, and extremely talented in so many regards. Your looks might be your biggest shining moments, but that doesn't mean you haven't served in other challenges-- you were great in "acting" challenges, in Snatch Game (!!), and literally every challenge. Some may say you lack a defined personality, or charisma, but I disagree. You're incredibly charming, and every move of yours is endearing, and leaves me rooting for you and wanting more. You have everything it takes to win, and I'd be as thrilled to see it as I was to see your entries every week.
Koko Khalyan:
My goodness, this lip sync gave me a tremendous amount of life. For once, I don't have all too much to say about your lip sync because you know you slayed it, and, dare I say, did better than some of the girls you were imitating in it. It was a brilliant, touching moment, and probably my favorite moment of yours throughout this entire season. My only critique with it is that I'm tired of seeing you actually stand here and literally lip sync-- it's not that I don't respect your talent, it's that I wish I could see you do more of what you did your ball LSFYL and branch out further into some other ways of expression. That would truly show me that you're more well-rounded than you've led me to believe for the last 8 months, including last season.
Oh, good lord, girl, you should've switched your Best Drag and your LSFYL outfits, because your LSFYL look was probably my favorite from you all season. Sure, it wasn't tremendously fashionable or anywhere near as brilliantly sartorial as some of the other girls' (like the ones you're currently in the top 3 with), but it still boiled down to something that perfectly embodied who Koko Khalyan is WITHOUT being offensively ugly (and believe me, that's a dichotomy if I've ever seen one). Your actual Best Drag is some kind of Party City take on what MJ and Prince wish they could wear on the daily with some Darienne-heavy Studio 54 references, and while it's not absolutely terrible, I think it's a poor choice for your final look.
My god, have you been an absolute pain in my ass for a good majority of this season. Right off the bat, we had that little quarrel, and you spent a lot more time irritating me in one way or another than not-- whether it be asking me for advice then NOT listening to it, demonstrating bad taste, or going back to doing what you do with Drag Race and counting out actual frontrunners/competition in favor of things that suit your personal taste-- and I almost had just enough of it. You came here this season for some kind of RuDemption from last season, as if you left with some disgrace (even though you did basically the same as your favorite, and your self-identified role model-- Ms. Davenport), and at some points, I thought you began to achieve it-- your first two entries were absolutely wonderful, and caught me off-guard because I thought I already had seen all there was to see. As the season went on, though, well... I don't need to sit here and remind me of your failures. But those failures also happened to highlight the thing I appreciate the most from you, being your drive. You never let anything actually keep you down, and even when it tried, your bitch ass played possum until the last second and sprang back up. I remember you asking if you should even bother to lip sync, at times when you thought you might, and even the last time when you actually had to, and I commend you for actually going through with it instead of giving up. Your tenacity is amazing, and it's extremely endearing, especially when your wretched personality gets in the way of it. Through all your hardships, you showed your drive, and while they all took a toll, they showed something new and awe-inspiring in you.

Carbön:
You really know how to turn it out for the finale. Your forbidden fruit concept was original and so well-executed. Your Best Drag look was even better! The left arm gave me so much life. I was slightly perturbed by the skirt part only in that I couldn’t tell if there were cut-outs or it was just see-through material, but that’s not a huge deal overall. But the colors feel so very Carbon, and I think this look really shows your specific aesthetic and helps us see your drag persona fully realized. I really enjoyed your LS (will Sub read it all?), which was well-written and quite effectively modeled your run in the competition; you may have flown a bit under the radar every now and then, and you were never the queen who relied on flashiness or petty fights, but you truly found your footing when it mattered most. Of all the competitors, your finale entry shows the most growth, and I’m very proud to have seen you find your element in this competition.
Aciid:
I really like the color palette in your fruit look, though the actual outfit is just OK for me. Cute, but it didn’t have me gagging as much as I was expecting. Your Best Drag look was stronger. It seems appropriate that you used an Alexander McQueen look (I think your aesthetic is very McQueen), though I wish you changed up the actually dress a bit more than just the colors. The changes to ha face are cool, but it doesn’t feel like quite enough given that this is BEST drag. I like that your LS was a bit light-hearted, since, as you noted yourself, your entries have usually been serious. The album part still mostly relies on aesthetics, which we already know you excel at. The actual lip sync was cute, esp. the bit about the piñata. Still, I was hoping your LS would give us a bit more access to who you are on the inside. While your finale entry wasn’t as strong as I was expecting, you’ve clearly slayed throughout the competition. You very much deserve to be here and I’m so glad you signed up this season and kept us all entertained week after week.
Koko:
I think it’s cute that you went for kiwi glamour with your first look, but while the concept was OK, I didn’t like the execution much. The green was garish and didn’t look good matched with the fur. And the brown of the fur doesn’t go too well with the black accessories and shoes. I had similar garishness issues with the Best Drag look, which felt a bit dated and easy. When I saw the title of your LS, I was excited to see how you viewed your ~evolution~ here. But then I didn’t think that was clear. This would have been a perfect time to put some short, funny annotations on the screen that describes how each song relates to some part of your journey. Though I tend to care more about narrative, your dance moves are certainly impressive! (One note there: I think it’s better to keep your mouth closed when you aren’t lipping so that it’s clear when you are; makes it look more precise!) I remember being a little surprised that some contestants signed up for S2, but in the end, I’m very glad you did. You gave us some of the season’s most memorable moments and pushed yourself outside your comfort zone a bit. If you take your drag career to the gay clubs of America, be sure to stop by Iowa so I can tip you a quarter or two ![:-*](images/smilies/images/smilies/kiss.gif)

Carboner – Your final lip sync was heartwarming to read, because ti really took me along on your entire journey. Your fruit look is my favorite of all the finale outfits, and I'm so upset that I didn't come up with it first. It was a smart move on your part to use your best talent in this competition that the others don't have (writing) to convey your message. The entire piece is well-structured and flows very smoothly. Your best drag isn't my absolute favorite, but it covers your style without feeling lazy, which I like. It was also incredibly sweet of you to include paintings of Chanel, Carrie, and I. Even nicer of you to smooth out Chanel's padding - you're such a sweetheart.
It breaks my heart that you thought, even for a second, that the work you delivered in this competition was mediocre or average. Baby, everything that you have given us in this competition has one distinct quality: It is unequivocally, irrevocably you. Out of the three finalists, I think you have the most developed drag character. Whether in your futuristic and edgy fashion choices or in your articulate and self-aware writing, each entry you've given us has been distinctive and indicative of a massive talent. No matter what happens, you are a winner in my eyes. Good luck.
Aciid Rose – To be completely honest, I felt let down by your final lip sync. It might not be entirely fair to you, but after the theatrics of this season's lip syncs (and the caliber of your competitors), it felt slightly underwhelming. After reading it a second time, though, I could appreciate it a lot more. There is an artistic, heavily visual element to your performance that comes through even when there isn't a clear picture of what you are doing. Your fruit look was basic but executed as perfectly as any of your other looks. Your best drag works well as representative of your aesthetic, very clean and with a nice, menacing overtone. What really astounded me as I read your lip sync was how much it sounded like a performance I would expect from another Drag Race winner - Raja.
Your run in this game has been nothing short of amazing, and it boggles my mind that I had to convince you to join. Seeing what you deliver each week has been an absolute delight, and what makes me so proud of you is that you have given absolutely everything to every challenge. Even if something wasn't on your alley, you found a way to make it work. If I remember correctly, you would've won Snatch Game if it had been decided by average ranking alone. You are a multifaceted queen who turns every single one of her side ventures into absolute gold, and I have loved every second I've gotten to know you in this game. Good luck.
Koko Khalyan – Your final lip sync was SO good and perfectly Koko! If you don't mind the publicity, this would easily become a top post of all time over at the RPDR subreddit. And bitch, you BETTER compete in the LSFYL reddit competition! Your disco best drag was actually my favorite outfit I've ever seen from you. It's so colorful and exciting, with some camp to it that really underscores the point: You are an entertainer.
Not to echo other judges, but I didn't expect to see you here a few weeks ago. At the beginning of the competition, you performed very well, snagging several HIGHs in a row. As the season progressed, it seemed that you lost your way. You reached out to me a couple time throughout the competition, at one point even questioning whether it was worth it to keep trying. I am so happy that you did. Your Top 4 lipsync was one for the ages, and with it you established yourself as the best lip sync queen we've ever had. You've expressed fear that your talent is only shown when you have to LSYFL, but that isn't true. Your talent has been shown each week in this competition, from your nonconventional, campy costuming (Bjork swan!) to your out of the box approaches (Dr. Seuss). While they did not always snag you that top spot, they kept you as a force to be reckoned with in this competition, and showed everyone that you were not content to just do the same old same old. And here you are! Whether Koko Khalyan starts gracing the stages of Texas, or this is her last curtain, know that she has inspired me to try harder, perform harder, and give more of myself in what I do. Good luck.

RU-United Special
15 queens. 10 challenges. 450+ pages. Several meltdowns. Tonight, there will be only one winner.
Please welcome your very special host of ATRL's Drag Race Season 2: RU-United.... Carrie Messiah!
Hello contestants, judges, and guests. Just over six months ago, many of us gathered here to see me, Carrie Messiah, win the season 1 crown. Tonight, I am here to bequeath the crown to a new winner. Will it be Mexican fashionista, Aciid Rose? Futuristic artiste, Carbön? Or the comeback kid, Koko Khalyan?
Before we get there, we’ll check in with (most of) the queens who sashayed away throughout the competition, find out who won Miss Congeniality, and we even have some sur—
Hold up. The producers are speaking into my earpiece….
Mmm hmm.. Yeah… Eww.
Well, it looks like I’ll have a co-host with me tonight. Please welcome Chanel DiAngelico!
Stunt Queen’s Look
Chanel: Greetings, bitches. Sorry to burden you all with some taste… But why are you all gagging? Everyone looks good next to Carrie Messiah. No pun or misspelling needed. She chose that name herself.
Carrie: Chanel, so nice to see you! While you’re never a queen who repeats herself, it looks like you somehow found a way onto this stage tonight just like you somehow found a way onto the judging panel this season! I see playing second fiddle to me has become a new hobby of yours.
Chanel: So nice to see you, and the immense empire and brand you built for yourself with your alleged win! Not my fault that my presence constantly manifests itself. Seems to happen when you have an impact.
Carrie: I’d say getting an actual invitation to be on the judging panel is a sign of impact. And your impact since S1 is what? Having the most posts in the Scream Queens thread? Anyway, I must say that I appreciate how even after your embarrassing loss last season, you just won’t quit! When will Lolita, Fantasma, or GiGi?
Chanel: You know what? You’re so right. I don’t let my somehow-lost-in-the-filing-process win hold me back, just like you haven’t let achondroplasia hold you back in your life. So inspiring. Me, I mean. I’m inspiring. To everyone.
Carrie: Speaking of your inspiration/impact, we’ll begin tonight’s reunion by talking to those queens who failed to snatch the Drag Race crown. We’ll catch up with most of the eliminated contestants to get the tea on their experience playing, and to find out what they’ve been up to since then.
Chanel: Then we’ll see which one of you losers that lacked C.U.N.T. wasn’t a big enough one and garnered enough sympathy to win Miss Congeniality!
Carrie: And finally, we’ll hand things over to our beloved host CitRu, who will hopefully continue the season 1 tradition of choosing the correct winner. Wait… what is that in the air? Looks like fairy dust! We’ll be right back with our first interview...

RU-United Special
First eliminated is NEVER a something anyone wants to be-- even queens who know that they're going to do poorly (or think so) say that the one thing they don't want is to be the first one gone. It's a walk of shame; a sad, mini-journey from someone who has their time cut before we even get to the good stuff. But the fact remains, it's a bullet someone has to bite.
So, please welcome to the stage...
Fairy Arabia!
Carrie: Despite being the first queen eliminated, you were one of the most discussed queens in the thread; the others girls couldn’t keep your name out their mouths! Do you think Fairy Arabia will exist beyond ADR S2? Would you audition for S3?
It's all about being memorable, I'm glad people wanted me back and that people kept talking about me. I wouldn't do S3 because I've already made a name and in my mindset my aesthetic isn't what the judges want so I'll probably pass on the third time but never say never.
Chanel: You were one of the few queens to participate in the comeback round. Do you think you deserved to come back over Carmen? What would you have done differently to stick around longer than she did?
Yes I do, I would have relied on cheap comedy (What I lost to twice) and done an amateur ( at best) lip sync performance.
Carrie: You said in your audition that you wanted to bring an Arab flavor to the competition. How would you have done that in one of the later challenges you weren’t around to participate in?
Hmm let me pick out a couple.
Snatch Game: My Snatch Game character was going to be Ahlam (the Arab queen of Pop) she's obnoxious, conceited and entitled ... think Mariah in drag.
The Literacy ball: All three looks were going to be Middle Eastern, My fatale look would have been luxury defined.
I'll space it out for the music video and return as an Emirati goddess for my best drag, with a twist that would take place in the end of the runway.
Well, it's a wonder hearing back from you. We hope your 30 seconds of involvement doesn't hold you back from making great things of yourself like it did to Gina Vitis or anyone else whose time got cut short.
Thank you, Fairy!
