Now that I think about it. Starships is not a classic, but it will go down as a memorable song for Onika. A classic is a song that can't be recreated. It will go down in history as one of the best. A memorable song is something that will always be mentioned when discussing music.

A hit is a song that smashed at that time. It doesn't have to be a classic or memorable.

i do actually, some people have different definitions of certain things. and some people have different opinions, its called a 'debate' just because someone elses view on songs which are classic/hit/ etc. are different then yours, does not mean they are wrong.

its a classic, i mean it was a hit, the first song to be in BB HOT 100 TOP 10 for 21 weeks, it was controversial, everyone talked about it, it was played every 5 minutes on the radio, its an ANTHEM.

The song itself wasn't controversial. It was a basic spring break/summer song. It's the safest and most commercial song she could have released at that point.

Being called out as a sellout isn't a controversy. Starships will be as remembered as I Gotta Feeling. Y'all do too much.

if im not mistaken, there was many disputes,arguments,and debates on Starships, pertaining to if Nicki was still a real 'rapper' and if Nicki was a sellout. obviously this was a strong debate carried on in public and in the press.

therefore TeamMinaj, Starships was controversial, yes the song ITSELF (lyrics etc.) may not be controversial, but it was a topic of discussion that made it controversial.
