Literally everything no matter what can be boiled down to theory. You can go into an art class and never see a painting the whole semester but learn the theory of how it evolved, how different types of art directions perceived reality, the philosophies behind renaissance etc. I finished 2 semesters of literary theory and never once was asked to read a single piece of literature.

That's why you always speak to the upper class students or go online and ask around about exactly what goes on in those classes before you choose. Also I'd recommend finding out if the professor is any good because some are legit NUTS. Theory is an essential part though no matter what you want to do later in life. It's inescapable in higher learning.

I didn't really have a chance to too, I applied for college in April and didn't get everything finalized until August and school started in September. I'll do better next semester.
