Alright! Hello everyone. It's good to be back in action after this unexpected vacation. Obviously, we left the game on a very chaotic note, with a ban, returning players, and a twist coming into play, resulting in a triple elimination, report, and thread closure. Things definitely got a bit over-the-top, but I think it might have been for the best actually. First of all, this past week ATRL was nearly impossible to access, thus making a live tournament rather difficult to manage and play. Between the "un momento" downtime and the ANTI surprise release causing overloads and 522s, we probably would have missed a few days anyway. At the very least, it would have been very frustrating for all of us to try and access the site to no avail. Hopefully the server will be better moving forward! Secondly, I think it has allowed you guys to have a cool-down period from the excitement of the game. While on break from hosting this week, I was reflecting upon the season up until now, and one concept that stuck out was how intense the contestants have been. I think it was good for you guys to have a little breather. Hopefully you will be refreshed and ready to have FUN with the rest of this season.
That brings me to my next point: throughout the season, there has been a plethora of hilarious, fun moments, but at the same time, there have been many moments plagued by negativity and drama. I think that all kind of culminated in someone reporting the thread last week and getting the game put on hiatus. Past seasons have had drama, but this season, I think there has been a certain sense of chaos and negativity of which some people have taken advantage, and it needs to be neutralized. I need to stress to you guys that this is a game on the Internet. As much as I appreciate your dedication and commitment to playing, the results of this game have no impact on the quality of your life. I want you guys to have fun, challenge yourselves, make some great memories, and make some new friends on ATRL. You don't have to take it THAT seriously. Try to find a happy medium well in between instigation/trolling and being SO dedicated that you are hyper-competitive.
On that note, I would like to address the moderators' discussion regarding the game, and then discuss with you how it will proceed. Ultimately, after I explained the situation to the mods, their consensus was: "it's the host's game, don't like it, don't play." I am the person with the final say behind the challenges, twists, and outcomes that I spend hours of my free time creating and managing for you guys to have fun. I have tried my very, very best over the last five and a half seasons to be as fair as possible with how this game operates. If you ever feel like something is unfair, please message me and I will hear you out and address your concerns. The moderators, while awesome as a reference, really don't need or want to be involved in the game. So please come to me with your concerns, and we will figure something out. I discussed a compromise plan with the mods... and so, the following will happen:
- Last Sunday (Round 19) will function as a single elimination of Brodie via his forum ban. PinkBox/borntodie are NOT eliminated.
- Monday's round (Round 20) will function as a non-elimination round. That means borntodie/Marvin/wesleywalrus are NOT out of the game. However, this round will not be completely erased from existence. The first 8 spoons, including the winner of the challenge, will advance to Round 22. They are immune in Round 21, and do not have to compete.
- Round 21 will involve anyone who did not place in the top 8 of Round 20. We will do a single elimination in order to ease ourselves back into things.
- All twists are STILL PRESENT, including Legend E's immunity through the top 15, GotSkill's elixir, the connection twist, and any other auction prizes I might have forgotten.
