I'm confused about G.U.Y. If it was just supposed to be "for the fans," why was it promoted to the high heavens before the videos release as the second coming or "spring awakening?" On the other hand, if it was indeed meant to be a single, why were all single promotion and plans dropped a mere week after the videos debut? I'm genuinely puzzled as to what they wanted out of it.

Basically the answer to this, and all questions about the AP era is:

Well, there are a couple of possible motivations. The first is that they truly intended for it to be her biggest hit since Bad Romance (Spring Awakening, and all), but as soon as they saw that the single wasn't even breaking the top 100 on iTunes, they just sorta gave up after that.
The only other alternative is that she and her team just wanted her fans to stop complaining and having meltdowns all over LM.com.
It had two tv performances, the music video debuted on national television, and she spent, like, two weeks headlining different radio stations. Plus the Spring Awakening photoshoot, SXSW.
And then it came to a screeching halt. Anyways, I don't really care either way because I got a pretty good music video out of it, I'm just puzzled by her team (or her?) actions. She's happy anyways so.

Two TV performances? But she only performed it once on David Letterman.
Oh wait, you're probably referring to the livestream of her last Roseland concert. That wasn't a TV performance though, per se.
Yes, that, and also the Artpop performance on Fallon.
I don't mean to be rude, but I wouldn't quite call the Fallon performance promo for G.U.Y. Sure, it had the looks of G.U.Y., but how can it promote the song if it wasn't even performed? I would guess they originally grabbed the promo slot intending to promote G.U.Y., but since things weren't ready yet at that point, it ended up being more general promo for ARTPOP than anything.

This is the whole thing I'm asking. Was G.U.Y. a single or something to help bring Artpop back to life? Otherwise you can go ahead and scratch SXSW and Spring Awakening off despite being upcoming promotion.
Did you make it with that program which has standard bases divided into the different genres? I don't know how to say it better but I can't remember its name.
Nah, it's just a mashup of the classic jazz Autumn Leaves backing track in G Minor (same key as Swine) so it pretty hilariously fit.
I want Someone to Watch Over Me or whatever its called.
That one Jazz song she covered and mixed with Bad Romance (which was flawless and one of my fav BR performances EVER) on the Today Show.

I die a little inside anytime a fan says their fave did something "for the fans". It's just a single that flopped, get over it.

I want Gaga to take one of the her favorite non-jazz songs and redo it as a jazz song, given that it actually works out good.
