I just read about the ratings, and in this case, the ratings truly do reflect the quality downpour of this show, I don't really want to see this show flop, because the first 3 seasons were truly something great for television, but this season is such a drag, like the writing is awful, the freaks aren't even the horror element of the show, so really they're just their for face value, because none of their stories have really been anything more than a little back story and then that's it, we don't care about the characters, because their is no reason to.
This is actually sad, because to see such brilliant actors, like Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angelia Basset, Emma Roberts (who I personally like, although I know her acting isn't for everyone, and isn't on those other females levels, and same with Even Peters (although he has his awful moments)) but the writing is so bad, that these actors don't deserve such disrespect to be honest. I honestly believe this is turning into something that just is a train for money, instead of a show that was supposed to be about the brilliant emmy/golden globe award winning writing, this season seems so rushed.
He should've waited, until the story was perfected, instead of just making a show that comes every year, and running it to the ground like all of his other shows, he has brilliant starting points and ideas, but his execution fades. Next season better step up it's game, or else I'm actually done with Ryan Murphy, because he is giving these brilliant actors awful material.
I think Sarah Paulson knows this, as she always says she prefers Asylum, because of the story.
This one just seems one dimensional, whereas the others had so many layers.
I'll keep watching, I don't see next season being any better at this point. This freak show idea has really been poorly done. There is really no other way to put it, and this is coming from a major fan of the series.
The only episode that was truly compelling this season was Blood Bath, if more of the episodes were like that, then it would've been great, and I don't understand, it's like he tries to drag the story out to fit into 13 episodes, but it's ONLY 13 episodes, there is so much that could've been done, telling all different stories, from different freaks, and really going into detail, rather than things just being there, with no real impact to the story.
It use to pain me to admit when something I really once loved, turned to crap, like numerous games, movies, artists. But now I've realized with age, what I truly think is good, and what isn't. And how I don't have time for things that aren't worth my time. And this season just isn't good, and it no longer pains me to say that. I'll give next season a chance, only out of the respect of the first 3 seasons.
