TBH, it was a smart choice, even though I'm not a fan of the collab either. It's a way to promote himself to bieber's younger fans so that his own singles will be popular with his crowd.

I just did some researches about singles sales and found some cool stuff.
in the US:
Digital Song is for 1.29$
Not sure about this, but I think that the 0.29 goes to Apple + The Record Label. The other 1$ goes to:
The song Vocalist, Writers and Producers.
So let's take "Bad Romance" as an example.
Vocalist: Lady Gaga, Writers: Lady Gaga & Red One, Producers: Red One & Lady Gaga, Russell, Eelco Bakker
Let's assume the share is even,
0.33$ goes to Gaga for the vocals, 0.15$ Writings, and 0.10$ for Producing. It sums up = 0.58$.
Bad Romance sold 3M copies:
-FIXED- 3,000,000 X 0.58 = 1,740,000$
That's what Lady Gaga made from Bad Romance

$3,870,000 / 129 = $30,000

$30,000 * 58 = $1,740,000 for GaGa if your breakdown was correct

Yeah I just fixed that.

Actually, it's up to the contract. If the contract says that the Artist will get 10% of the tottal sales, then the artist will get only 10%. If the contract says the Artist will get % individual credit on each single / album sale, then that's what will happen.

I assumed the credits were even, but the record company might've credit Lady Gaga for only 0.5$ of the producing rights, while Red One got the rest of it (0.28$).
I'm a Media student, and from what we have learned, my breakdown is right.

Writting: 0.5$ (Same here..)
Tottal: 0.15$.
Telephone sales:
1,000,000 X 0.15 = 150,000$. Not bad. But I think she is getting less than this

Rihanna:
Disturbia;
Vocals: 0.33$, Producing: 0$, Writting: 0$,
Sales: 4,000,000 X 0.33 = 1,320,0000$.
