I get what everyone is saying. Truthfully, I really didn't want to upload that song because of the "reverb" and "added vocals". I wanted it to be fair when I first started (with the first audition), but I really didn't have much to go on with the time stamp. I won't be reverberating anymore, that's for sure. And I understand that not everybody has the best equipment to record anything, but I don't think it's cheating if you have the ability to make clean recordings. It's still a competition and albeit an advantage, if you have great quality in your recordings or a instrumental that doesn't sound like it was recorded with a brick, why be penalized about it?
I mean no offense to those who can't but I can only dumb it down so much to make it (more) fair...

It was never about dumbing anything down, simply leaving the vocals as they naturally sound no matter what quality of the recording that can be done

I really thought most of the better sounding stuff was due to better mics.... Shows how little I know.

I think it's better to have a simple recording of your voice instead of a full blown mixed song. Just like if you were to audition for anything, all you would have is your voice and nothing else.. Which allows people to focus on your strengths and weaknesses more.
Not saying anything is bad if recorded professionally, just think that raw vocals are appreciated a tad bit more. lol.

I attempted to record today, and when I started belting in the chorus, my voice got really muffled. Any suggestions?

Oh my goodness, Karma..why do I feel a lil bit of bitterness in your words..
It's not like if you use some reverb and you're tone deaf, it'll help..do you think who used the reverb (and other "massive editing"?) is not that great, after all?
I just added a lil bit of reverb. That's it. It's not like I've spent more than one minute to edit anything.
Should I use a potato to record my voice in this competition?
Did you notice that the most praised contestant last round was someone who didn't record with anything near semi-professional..still she fared better than you and me (rightfully!!!)...just this...destroy your point.

There are no effects on my voice.
I think we should level the playing field from now on and mandate raw, untouched recordings of bare vocal performances.

There were no rules about this all along...why should I feel ashamed for some reverb?
I will send something unreverbered if needed (to prove I don't know what)...but not for my entries in this competition.
(To be fair. Everyone should be recording their vocals with a phone. Everyone with the same model, same brand)

Wait, just thought about this... Is it forbidden to layer vocals, too?

I don't see any rules about it, actually...I was going to layer vocals for my next song...a big mean massive editing trick.
I'm bad.

All I'm doing is recording my voice over an instrumental. I'm singing a power ballad for the next song, but when I start belting, my voice gets muffled in the recording

Listen, if y'all feel so insecure in your voices that you can't just sing and upload it for people to hear then I don't wanna make you feel uncomfortable by asking you to do that so you can all just do what you like since the mere thought of doing something without editing it has made you get all bitchy towards me.
As for whether I'm bitter over a singing competition to win an atrl+ subscription you have got to have been joking

You're the one who was like "it's not fair! help me!"...
You're making up rules...no one was feeling uncomfortable till you came and complain about everything you don't like...

Why didn't you say "lawmak, you are the one who I was referring to".
Anyway...I'm sorry if I sound bitchy..I just received a very bad news..I'm sorry if I offended you in anyway.
