Modern Rock
Coldplay scores their second consecutive #1 debut off their forthcoming 'Mylo Xyloto', with their latest atmospheric anthem. Loads of fantastic movement for some great new tracks this Fall. Bush have surprised the hell out of everyone with how great their new album is. Avoiding a complete misfire, their track zooms to #2. Following suit, Florence + The Machine rides huge anticipation for the forthcoming 'Ceremonials', landing her fourth top 10 hit with the fifth sure to follow. Canadian buzz band Sheepdogs continue to ride momentum and good buzz into the top 5, and I will be seeing them open for Kings of Leon next week which is great. Airborne Toxic Event score their first top 5 hit. And one last comment - why are the Foos releasing 'These Days' as a single? 'Burning Bridges', 'Arlandria', 'Dear Rosemary', 'Back & Forth' - are all better tunes.

Given she already has the best selling album of 2011 locked up, it would only be fitting if she were to have the two biggest singles of the year as well. Adele continues her monumental 2011 year at #1, although she almost got nipped by none other than hit machine Rihanna. The Calvin Harris influenced track is a remarkable lead off track from her forthcoming 6th studio album, and I'm left baffled yet again as to how she continuously keeps pumping them out. Adele falls out of the top 5 for the first time since last December with RITD, but makes up for it with a big leap for SFTTR, which is looking more and more likely to be her third North American single.
1. Adele - Someone Like You (1)
2. Rihanna f. Calvin Harris - We Found Love (-)
3. Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All (6)
4. Adele - Set Fire To The Rain (13)

12. Leona Lewis - Collide (14)
13. Lady Antebellum - Just A Kiss (-)
14. Bruno Mars - Marry You (9)
15. Pitbull f. Ne Yo, Afrojack - Give Me Everything (RE)

November 2011
Modern Rock
If someone told me at the beginning of this year that Bush would score a #1 hit on my Modern rock chart (and at Alternative radio as well), I would have called shenanigans. And yet, here we are. Bred and buttered for the radiowaves of KROQ, 'Sound of Winter' is hands down the most pleasant surprise of the year. Letterman favs, Airborne Toxic Event, have scored their biggest hit yet with the cathedral 'All I Ever Wanted'. Florence + The Machine rides a large wave of momentum on the heels of the sophmore album, Ceremonials, as they place two singles in the top 10 this month. This marks their 4th and 5th top 10 hits. Coldplay, despite the release of the terrific Mylo Xyloto this month, fall from #1 with 'Paradise'. The album has added itself to a hotly contested race for my album of the year, which already includes Adele, Foo Fighters, and Watch The Throne. Oh, and add Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds to that horse race as well, another terrific suprise this month. And on a nostalgic note, Blink 182 are back on board with their first hit since 'Feeling This'.
1. Bush - The Sound of Winter (2)
2. Airborne Toxic Event - All I Ever Wanted (5)
3. Coldplay - Paradise (1)
4. Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out (17)
5. City & Color - Weightless (9)
6. Florence + The Machine - What The Water Gave Me (7)

16. Feist -How Come You Never Go There (20)
17. MuteMath - Blood Pressure (-)
18. Awolnation - Not Your Fault (-)
19. Wilco - I Might (-)
20. Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks (11)

'We Found Love' is an addiction. It absolutely smokes in the club, and the beat is electrifying. This one could ride out the rest of the year at #1. This is Rihanna's third #1 overall, and her 13th top 10 (not including guest appearances). No stranger to #1, Adele is not #1 for only the second time this year. Nonetheless, 'Someone Like You' continues it's epic run while 'Rolling in the Deep' continues its charge towards the #1 single of 2011. It seems like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Bruno Mars are everywhere right now, and rightfully so, as they are putting out quality music. Take Care hopefully will provide the goods and should add an additional hip hop component to the already hectic album of the year race. Love, love that Tinchy/Calvin track. That is UK fire if I've ever heard it.
1. Rihanna f. Calvin Harris - We Found Love (2)
2. Adele - Someone Like You (1)
3. Lil Wayne f. Drake - She Will (-)

Only a song as epic as "The Sound of Winter" could replace Coldplay at the top. I'm also impressed by the relatively high Kasabian and RHCP debuts. We need more "Monarchy of Roses" fans.
