Hm, I guess the dubstep was recognizable after all.

Oh.
Isn't a part of being an artist is CREATING MUSIC?
HIAM went straight to #1 and fell straight back down. It wasn't a popular song. TTWE is far more known, but sounds like a generic Kesha song (well, by all intents and purposes it is).

No, it's about the recording artist.

Thanks, I couldn't read it in normal size font. Are you arguing that Britney isn't an artist? This isn't the thread for that. Who mentioned success?

Being the 'best' is irrelevent and subjective. She wasn't the first, but she was the one who started it. You honestly think it's a coincidence that Rihanna did it (minimally), and nothing happened, but Britney did it, and everyone from Gaga to Rihanna have put it into their singles?

Lets get into their review of Blackout back in 2007:

When Britney requires a dubstep track, for instance, she simply makes one. The result is "Freakshow", built around the "wobbler" effect that's a genre standby. A dubstep forum thread on the tune hit seventy pages in 24 hours, mixing outrage and delight: It still seems to matter when the mainstream borrows underground music, brings it into the wider pop vocabulary.

Stop the delusion Brit copies Xtina all the time so she's a follower!
X becomes a ***** literally in Lady Marmalade, and Brit then does Slave 4 U.
X did dance hip hop with Come On Over, and Brit tries it with Boys.
X uses guitars, Brit uses them in Toxic.
X's does dance/electro music around the age of 14, and Brit does them in Blackout.
X used a red wig for a video, and then years later Brit wore 1.
Etc, etc, etc.

FURTHERMORE, you think it's a coincidence that Gaga started out rock, then after Blackout she went straight into dance to make a name for herself? As did every other pop girl? She is a trendsetter.

Britney DID start a dubstep trend with HIAM though. But it's silly to say that Rihanna followed the trend since Rated R came before HIAM. I don't really consider Freak Show as the song that started the dubstep trend. But Britney did it first and that's all the stans wanna hear.

Sis, please tell me why is then Britney's name mentioned before Christina's in her own biography?
Quote:
After Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera was the most popular female singer of the late-'90s teen pop revival.Born Christina Maria Aguilera on December 18, 1980, on Staten Island, her parents were of Irish and Ecuadorian stock and her father's military career meant the family moved quite a bit during her childhood. They eventually settled in Pittsburgh, PA, where Aguilera began performing in talent shows at age six, with considerable success. She appeared on Star Search in 1988 (though she didn't win) and in 1992 joined the cast of the Disney Channel's The New Mickey Mouse Club, which also included Spears, future *NSYNC members Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez, and Felicity star Keri Russell.

Oh. The mid 2000s rocker chick trend. I miss it.
But go on with this. It's fun.

Anything that went #1 cannot be considered unpopular.
It also hit #1 in two more countries and has sold over 3 million worldwide, and it would have sold more if it were actually promoted.

There's no "first" or "best" for trends, child...
Like I'm going tbh. Do you have any idea about the word "trend"?
So just stop because stans like you makes the RiRi stanbase look bad.

What I'm saying, is that, Britney must have been influenced from somewhere to decide to use dubstep, and I think everyone caught on to the same trend together.
Dubstep was growing when artists (like Britney) decided to use it for parts of their music. I don't think one particular artist set it off really. Sure, Britney might have had an influence on some artists, but not strongly enough to say she "set the trend", I wouldn't say.

I agree. I don't think she influenced Rihanna though is all I'm saying.
They both experimented with dubstep and did their own thing.

Why are you getting all butt hurt? I'm not talking about Rihanna here, I'm talking about Britney, who I also really admire the music of. I just disagree with people claiming she is a trend setter, which is what this thread it all about.
