This image gives me feels, I was so excited for 2NE1 to come back.
It wasn't a bad album by any means but it just didn't justify the wait and the messing around before it's release. Remember when YG attempted the "one froot a month" release strategy before Marina but he got lazy after two singles, then released "Missing You" a couple of months later, then waited a few more months before actually coming back with the album.
No, I wanted to love it, and I did enjoy it for a bit, but it just felt like it lacked something their past material had and it didn't have a lot of replay value for me. I'll still be excited for upcoming comebacks, though, since I know they have the potential to be great again.
dd I just remembered that one CRUSH teaser where all the members were like really depressed and sad and they made it seem like this was a farewell album or something.

See, it was kinda the opposite way around for me. I Love You slayed, then they vanished for a year, then they came back with FIL which was the hugest anticlimax ever and is by far their most forgettable single imo, and DYLM was good but average at best. So when CRUSH actually dropped at a time when I had low expectations for their music it actually really slayed me tbh. Come Back Home is my fave title song of theirs.
And dddd yeah everything leading up to that era served farewell album teas, especially releasing Missing You and calling their tour All Or Nothing which literally described the state of their careers at the time

"I Love You" is one of their best! I liked "Falling in Love", I felt that the reggae tinge and the underlying gritty tone of the production was pretty refreshing, but the song wasn't a standout in their catalogue. I don't like speaking about that other one, it's so bad.
Most of the music on CRUSH is listenable, I could still listen to the album from start to finish. It's just that after such a messy release schedule between the 2nd Mini Album and this album, they really needed something better to justify that wait. That's just my view on it, though. I'm glad they even got the album out in the end because you're right, it seemed like it was actually all or nothing for a few months there.
PS: I still don't get the FIL hate. It was my summer anthem personnally (the only part I don't care for in the song is the chorus, Minzy, CL & Dara slayed, especially Dara's bridge
Dara giving hope to Nam Leadah, who now is slaying her bridge too.)
Welp, guess Lobeuliseu their time as being Woolim's focus of attention was extremely short lived. Hope this comeback performs better than their Last Romeo/Back promotions
