Let’s begin with new American judge Demi Lovato, as the news broke over the weekend that her single “Give Your Heart a Break” climbed to the top of the top 40 airplay charts. This is the first time that any song from the former Disney Channel star has made it to the top, and this one did so in the same way that Demi has made her career thus far — through hard work and no willingness to quit. This song has spent months slowly and slowly building on the radio, and it has accomplished a feat because of it that a number of other popular artists out there have yet to achieve. (Even many of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga’s recent tracks have failed to hit this mark.)
