Also some stans go too hard. For instance, I posted a few hours ago what I'd like as a single line up and somehow there was shade thrown and it also makes people want to come for Rihanna because some of her stans make it easier.

I just hope she can get her #1 without Adele or Beyonce blocking her in the oncoming weeks. It would be the perfect way for anti's to have egg on their face with a #1 album and single in this era

I think Rated R was the start for Rihanna not being a label puppet. You can hear it in the music. Well, the main subject was Chris but she had a lot of control doing that record. And she said during an interview on 106 & park that she started working on the album when she was finally ready to make one, and clearly no one pushed her to make it to milk her for sales.

GGGB is the start of her rebelling against the label. The album wasn't necessarily personal but it wasn't what the label wanted. Since age 19 she has been fighting to carve out her own sound, but woth ANTI she had the emotional and technical tools to truly excel.

Rates R is interesting to me because Ne-Yo swears they worked on a lot of it before the incident. She was hurting, man, and so young. I'm so proud of her growth as a person and for enduring the things she has. It's very impressive that someone so young pushed for those songs to be made when no one else had a similar sound. She's consistently put her career on the line time and time again. Whew

They knew by this point what she was worth, it was obvious. But omg knowing I'm currently the age Rihanna was when she was slaying worldwide with Umbrella is crazy. As if in a years time I could have the depth and experience to create something like Rated R. People can say what they want about Rihanna's teams but there's no denying Rihanna's albums are her own vision and that is why I love her so much.

There's more to the story we will never know, but Rates R remains such an important chapter in her career. I've been sleeping on it for so long

Well, Disturbia was going to be on Rated R (her upcoming untiled record at that time) but she said it was too good to make us fans wait for such an amazing song. Plus, that song was the beginning of her dark side aka the start of the illuminati rumours. lol.

Rated R with Disturbia makes so much sense. It always stuck out next to the easy #1 Take a **** and the unnecessary Maroon 5 collab. But lord I'm glad we got it when we did. I still remember the day I heard Russian Roulette for the first time and was horrified, it took months to grow on me. I always loved Hard though, was my fave single until What's My Name?

I was happy for the break as much as it killed us all. It helped me appreciate so many underrated album tracks. I still believe A Girl Like Rih is a quality album. Kisses Don't Lie and Selfish Girl slay.

She debut at #7 in the UK with 17k sales I think.


This is not good.

But I honestly don't care about the sales, it's a fantastic album and that's all that matters.
