Yeah her image then really put everything together.
I feel like Bang Up's post makes a lot of sense though. ARTPOP is the album that she tried to sound the most current and include as much of today's sound as possible. All of her other albums tried to capture the sounds of the 90's, 80's and in some sense the 70's disco scene. ARTPOP is definitely trying to be TODAY, but unfortunately was late to the party and is more 2011-2012 than anything.
You can pick songs out from it and say that they aren't "fresh" but they are still using the more current production styles and sounds from today than any of her other material. Just being something sounds "fresh" doesn't mean it has to be good either, so let's not confuse that and pretend that because we say something is fresh that it's spectacular.

Bae, we have people claiming that the G.U.Y. video is better than her The Fame videos (including Paparazzi). I'm glad I'm unbanned again so I can bring back some realism in this thread.

Born This Way - Express Yourself
Judas - BR remake
You & I - sounds like Queen (nice lyrics for a change)
The Edge of Glory - Bruce Springsteen (good track though)
Electric chapel - best part of the song is stolen (google "Heideroosjes gaga")
etc. Sorry, but your post was just so biased. In essence, ARTPOP & BTW are the same.

You're a Gaga stan, and you know BTW was meant to match the music Gaga's parent's listened too. She tries to pass ARTPOP off as a new concept and a brilliant album but in reality it has nothing. I know people wanted "Just party and get loose" over We Found Love from Gaga but BTW has everything a good album should have. It may have alienated some, but it doesn't mean it didn't work. Though it isn't perfect, BTW is what it is supposed to be. Can't say the same for the themeless ARTPOP. Also, how convenient that people worship her peak to live through her. I don't know if it is because I loved her pre smash, but I know good music when I hear it.

Like, G.U.Y is far from Gaga's worst video, but my brain cannot process the thought that it is in any way better than Paparazzi

This whole "people only like TFM because it's her peak and they want to live through Gaga and only hate BTW & ARTPOP because they underperfomed" thing is soooooo old. I genuinely think both albums suck. Now what?
Anywho, I hope Brooklyn Nights' lyrics are an indication of how her next album will sound lyrically. Cute, not try-hard yet very Gaga.

Yes! Like I said, "fresh production" doesn't mean "best production".
Unfortunately it didn't work. Gaga seems to be best when she's recalling pop from yesteryear. I'm still waiting for a full 90's-influenced album, aka when pop/dance was at its best.

I don't think this is true. She has said from the beginning that ARTPOP is a continuation of what she has always done, not that it's anything new.
And I don't like the idea that an album has to have a theme to be good. Why can't an album just be full of good bops? I'm not saying ARTPOP is Gaga's best album 'cause I don't even believe it's the best she can do, but I don't get the hate for it by Gaga's own fans, most of which were the ones screaming at her to practically make an album like ARTPOP.

GUY isn't better than Paparazzi, but it is better than everything else from The Fame. People praise Poker Face as if it contains more than just Gaga dancing around a pool.

ARTPOP isn't that bad, it just needs a little direction (Teeth its impact).

The Poker Face intro alone when Gaga steps out of the pool and throws that mask away DESTROYS the G.U.Y. video. But such simple iconic footage is not appreciated by most Monsters anymore. They don't understand pop culture. Look at Miley. She managed to create buzz with the simple image of her being naked on a spinning ball. A lot of Gaga stans think the G.U.Y. video is good because it contains a lot of stuff. Less is more.

Well I am just going by what Gaga has said. She said ARTPOP is an exquisite, fine cuisine, and she refuses to make French fries.
A themeless album could work, but it doesn't mean the material can be mediocre.

You & I is kind of the best song on Born This Way which is not surprising since she wrote it in 2010.

Yes, but Foie gras isn't "new", it's been done before. I think Gaga's explanations of her work have more to do with her confidence in what she does, which a lot of fans seem to have a problem with it. Gaga thinks her music is great, but that doesn't mean you have to agree or that she's wrong if you don't.
Anyways, great discussion, but I know people here don't like posts that have more than three sentences so I'll end it here.

This is, like, the only good part of that video, and it lasts a total of about ten seconds.
This scene alone is better than the PF video, imo.
And this scene:
Though tbh, I don't really think it's fair to PF to compare GUY to it since GUY's budget was probably ten times bigger.
