I think that they should have left the beginning live synth to the Applause production (the beginning of her VMA performance where it uses the choruses synth before doing the video game opening to the song).

I love that VMA opening music! Not so much her weird wee operatic bit with nonsensical lyrics, but it was a cool bit and sounded really upbeat and contrasting alongside the "Lady Gaga is over" jeers.

Glad I'm not the only one.

The chorus gets kinda chaotic with the multiple layers of her voice and the production going on at the same time that it can get lost really easily. It's actually very catchy and pleasing to the ears. I think some people's early issues with the song is that the opening is very abrupt and that could possibly remedy that. Ugh. Stanned so hard for Applause tbh.

I've come to the conclusion that people aren't done with Gaga (yet) and that the real problem is the music.
(ATRL almost made believe she was done, but the more days pass, the more I realize she ins't).
That's what Wendy Williams says since the beginning and that's what most of the artRAVE reviews say.
Her current work (BTW/ARTPOP) isn't as fresh and innovative as her past music (TF/TFM).

Nah. BTW was pretty innovative for a major pop star and had some fresh (if retro) sounds like some disco before it started becoming a trend.

The Fame was innovative though, though time has dated it a bit. It started a wholeeeeee ton of things musically.

But The Fame and The Fame Monster have always been dated. And Born This Way was even more dated, just in a different, more unique way. ARTPOP was the first time she worked with current producers and released an album full of current sounds. I don't believe anyone who tries that ******** about how ARTPOP isn't as innovative as her earlier work, because they're just wrong. The people who say that only say it because ARTPOP isn't as successful. No one, and I literally mean no one, would be saying that about ARTPOP had it slayed.

I don't think her music is the issue, I think everything else is. The music doesn't matter when the image doesn't connect.

I really like TFM but I honestly don't think it is as timeless as people (monsters) make it out to be. Bang Up is right, it has always been her image that was the main innovation.

Still think Gags's magnum opus has yet to happen but BTW is likely the closest to be at the moment.

BTW is her best album as a full body of work, in my opinion. Like was said, it was dated but it was intentionally so, which is what made it so good.

ARTPOP, however, has the freshest-sounding production of all her albums. Doesn't mean it has the best production, but the closest Gaga has ever come to doing something "current".

Gaga was massive because her music and image were both good and digestible. Now they're not. It's really as simple as that to me.

I disagree, Bang Up, strongly. Bar DWUW and Sexxx Dreams, what sounds fresh on ARTPOP? I respect your opinion but ARTPOP and fresh just don't really mix
