No not at all
The 5th Gen got a lot of negative feed back from all sorts of angles. Some people called the region to linear, some people hated the Pokemon designs, some people didn't like how it didn't really improve on anything graphics wise (Gen 4 and Gen 5 don't really differ that much in terms of visuals).
I think overall it was just an underwhelming generation. Since it didn't really add anything new or ground breaking.
