Nobody watches tv on saturdays in the US, the only show watched is SNL. Fridays are similar too. So they had to go with 2 days of the week, and monday and tuesday were already taken by the voice...

It's bad because it clashes with Big Brother (Wed and Thur) and there's live evictions on Thursdays, so that will decrease their premiere ratings on Thursday.

They added Glee before X Factor on Thursday purposely to get that demographic of people who are into music and are tweens/teens to check out the program. I don't know anyone who watches Big Brother still to be honest
