I hope HDD aren't WAY off of Leona's prediction. They predicted 290k for Danity Kane, and they did 236k. Predicted 220k for Day26 and they barely did 200k. 190k for Leona, hope its not really like 130k or something, lol.

Selling 200k today is the equivalent of selling 280k just two years ago with the way the market has collapsed. I think people need to get with the new reality.

I think it's an amazing figure myself as I thought Leona would be lucky to top 100k.

If this is true, why are her songs lighting up the TOP 100 songs on iTunes? If people werent feeling them and only felt BL, then only BL would be in the top 100...but Im pretty sure she has like 5 songs in the top 60ish...and she hasnt even performed those other songs in the US! Has Kelly Rowland ever been nominated for a Grammy award on her own? No. But Christina has. Christina also has a successful movie career, unlike Britney (Crossroads, anyone?)

People who are calling 190-200k a dissapointment seriously need to re-evaluate the standards of the music industry.

This is a higher debut than Fergie, Rihanna, and many other established artists. Whether it will see the same sort of longevity is another thing. But the only reason Leona's opening tally could ever be deemed dissapointing is because unrealistic people made lofty expectations of 350-450k, when only 250,000 units were shipped to stores in the first place.

I think you're a bit biased. I think I'll buy the album anyways, but the truth is most of these tracks are good in the context of an album but wouldn't go over too well at radio. Maybe 'Better In Time' or 'Misses Glass' but the rest are too MOR to really add momentum to the album or make an impact on the charts. 'I Will Be' sucks because it sounds exactly the ballads from 'The Best Damn Thing'...very piano recital-y and I can't imagine that song making it's way into the top 20. Platinum is the best 'Spirit' can hope for IMO.
