Lady Gaga post TF era is so interesting. I remember people wanted the old Gaga back during TFM. There's always been this divide between serious Gaga and light hearted Gaga. For BTW, a lot of the old fans wanted a cheerier, party anthem delivering Gaga. BTW alienated her pop fans but kept her hardcore fan base at ease. Yet era was a mess, the tour was cancelled, and ARTPOP was released. Clearly, ARTPOP has some fans interested, but you can most definitely tell we aren't all there anymore. ARTPOP seemed like an apology for BTW by making fun and camp songs, with art references, but it didn't work out so well. I'd say it is because she hasn't reinvented herself.
Also, I've come to the conclusion that BTW is her best album. Years later, the album still resonates with me when I thought it wouldn't last me beyond 2011. I've said it will take years for people to appreciate this album and they will
Especially if Gaga, somehow, comes back.
