It's funny, as bad as IWBWY's lyrics are, Gaga's live performance of it was so perfect I didn't care. A studio version on ARTPOP would have been tragic though. Dope's second verse is the best songwriting on ARTPOP.

I don't rate the studio recording, but it is a good song that is more likely to strike a chord with the academy than her pop. It's a raw, reflective redemption track written entirely by her and produced by Rick Rubin, so it has that going for it.

They could do that. Ideally this would lead to them nominating (and awarding) DWUW in the R&B category, as a C2C song would be more likely to be shown some love in the Pop category for being different (she can't compete on the big pop collab stakes).

I agree about the bolded part. But if you are inlove wouldnt it be great to sing him/her this:

I just think that they're too blunt. there's no clever songwriting involved. I like love songs with metaphors and lyrics that make you think. IWBWU's lyrics are far too generic. Read Dope's lyrics. That's clever songwriting

+ Venus is just a fun, dumb pop song. It doesn't need to have meaning

Lady Gaga hasn't had a song that tops SHICD. Speechless is great too. A ballad doesn't have to be a love song, and lets not with your examples.

Dope's lyrics are ok. But the way she sings them is absolutely terrible

I don't think it matters whether a song was a single or not. It charted in the top 10, anyway.

I could see her getting Best Pop Solo Performance, but I agree that SOTY and ROTY aren't happening. However, submitting them regardless has some merit as it could potentially make them more inclined to nominate and back her in the smaller categories - as compensation, of sorts.
