Why's the 2nd generation so overpraised?
It only introduced 100 new pokemon and that included a bunch of unnecessary pre evolutions. Not to mention all the starters were forgettable and weak.
In order to make a decent team in G/S/C you had to rely on the previous generation almost completely.

I previously said 2 was my favorite gen, but the more I think on it after I've re-played a bit of Emerald, Hoenn is just superior. The region is cooler, the Pokémon are cooler, etc. I can't wait for the 3D remake.

3 > 2 > 1 > 4 > 5

I'm just not a big fan of Gen V. A lot of what hooks me when it comes to a generation is the region itself, and I found Unova to be incredibly bland. The features and graphics are great, but beyond that I didn't feel the magic. The fourth gen only barely beats it though... I just liked the Pokémon better.

Gen 3 was so flawless. it was innovative and had some of the best looking pokemon.

HG/SS are the best games of the series.



Getting excited for this gen, since last gen mirrored the first gen.

This one could mirror the second.

HG/SS were the best Pokemon games I've ever played since the games came out in 1998 in America. Every thing about it was just , overall the fourth is probably my favorite, but only because it gave us HG/SS.

4 > 2 > 3 > 1 > 5

Generation 5 was just

They gave us a bunch of copies of Pokemon we already had, the region was so linear, and the Region Dex was a big mess. BW2 fixed it a lot, but in the end it felt like they just gave us filler while we wait for Gen 6 to arrive to be honest.

Yeah, HGSS are the best games in the series. That's why I was first inclined to vote for Gen 2 (as I count them as a part of 2, not 4) but Hoenn, imo, is the superior region.

Gen 2 is more of an expansion pack than a generation, tbh. That's probably why it's so highly rated - it took everything that's good about Gen 1 and added a bunch of new features and updated the graphics whilst adding in the bonus Pokemon which got cut from Gen 1 due to there not being enough room. If you think of it like that it becomes a whole lot better.

Generation 4's also an "expansion pack" generation - mainly adding new evolutions for old Pokemon. There they worked it better by making it feel like a separate game though.

3 > 1+2 >>> 5 >> 4

Hope Gen 6 doesn't follow the trend of other other even gen games...

The Gen 5 starters are pretty awesome, until they get to their last stages. There was an actual uproar when leaked pictures of their evolutions surfaced online, people couldn't believe they were real because of how bad they thought they were.
